Excluding places in Southern California, what are some of the best places to live in border states? I currently live in North Carolina, and are thinking about moving to either Texas, Arizona, or New Mexico. For those who live in those areas, what are the best places to relocate, considering living expenses, jobs, safety, amenities, etc.? Consider that we are a couple with a 1 year old little girl. I cross out Southern California. It's nice, but I've been there, and it's way too expensive.
As we start to flood with melting ice, where would be the best places to live? Global Warming Exists weather its natural or done-by-humans, the ice on the rocks of Antarctica and Greenland will add to water-levels unlike the ice already in the sea. The waters may rise to a maximum of 20 metres like they did before, where would be the best places to live if this happens? Thanks. Mmturtle, the antartica ice is not displacing the water it is on an island, its on rock not floating like much ice close to it, same for Greenland.
Where are the best places to live in Maine? Relocating to Seattle, where are the best places to live? Where are the best places for young, single, 20something professionals to live in the greater seattle area? I will be working South of the city, I'm not worried about traffic because I'm coming from Boston which means it takes 2.5 hours to get into the city from 20 miles out. I also would prefer not to live near the colleges if possible, again I've come from Boston and I moved out of the city so I could get away from the students who partied every night during the week. I would like to live in Seattle and do a reverse commute, and yes I will be on the right side of the water to where I will be working. I also have no desire to buy a home anytime soon. I am single and am selling my house in Boston. I don't anticipate this move to be for more than 5 years and I don't have any desire to deal with the stresses of real estate again, like I am now. While I appreciate that people think I should buy a house or "live near my work" I don't want to know your opinion on my decision, I want to know where the best places are to live in the Greater Seattle Area.
Where are the best places to live at in Northern Coastal Californial for expense, good jobs, low crime? I will be moving with my partner to Northern CA this late summer. I really hope there are several choices. Thanks for any and all help!

Best places to live for a UCLA professor? I'm a candidate to become a professor in the UCLA. Being a foreigner, I don't know what are the best places to live near my new job. I did live in Orange County (Brea and Fullerton) for almost 3 years, but I don't know about LA county. Would Santa Clarita and Thousand Oaks be good places, or are these two cities too far from UCLA? I really wish to find a nearby place with a very low crime rate. Also the place must not have skyrocketing renting prices for a good sized apartment.

Best places to live? Where are the best places to live in Indiana? Excluding Indianapolis, I already know enough about Indy. How are some of the other cities like Bloomington, Fort Wayne, Kokomo, and Lafayette? If you have lived in any of these cities please tell me how you felt about them. Economic wise, peoples attitudes, traffic, and reasons to live or not live. I would appreciate it if you would answer in a mature way. And not answer by saying none of them are good.
Where are the best places to live in East Tennessee? I currently live south of Nashville but want to move closer to the mountains. I would like to find a nice, clean, crime free community that would be a great place for a toddler to grow up. I work in healthcare so I would need to be able to find jobs in that area as well. Can anyone recommend any places? I have always wanted to live out that way.
Inspired by the Top 10 Best Places To Live in America- Can You Tell Me About Where You Live? (was difficult to categorize this question) This Money list of Best Places To Live 2007 inspired me to want to ask you about where you live. http://money.cnn.com/magazines/moneymag/bplive/2007/ Obviously, many places did not make the top 10- and that is why I think this question & answers would be interesting. Can you tell me about where you live and why you think it may be deserving of being listed as one of the "Best Places To Live"? OK- no responses yet. If you are worried about publicly listing where you live- feel free to send me a private email :)

Which cities or towns in the northeast are amongst the best places to live and buy a home? I'm from NYC, I just moved back here from Los Angeles because I want to be closer to my family. Still, I don't want to stay in NYC. (I do love my home, but it's not cost effective for me to remain a resident) I just want to live close by. Any ideas on where I can find some affordable real estate (ie: 50 - 150,000 range) in other cities or towns nearby --maybe like two to three hours away? I'm looking for decent, well-rounded places that offer a multitude of options. Smaller towns are ok, but they shouldn't be microscopic. I'm still young (in my lae 20's) so there would have to be an 20 - 30's crowd, some sort of nightlife or places to meet people.
Where are the best places to live in Florida-and which shoud I avoid? I'm planning to relocate to Florida or maybe Georgia and from what I'm hearing there are places that are quite depressed in this economy and should be avoided since they don't support the economy. Any suggestions from people who've lived there or know the state would be appreciated. I want to have some land so I can do my gardening and grow orchids too.

Best places to live in Lower or Midtown Manhattan? I'm considering a move to NYC to attend New York Law School (at Church and Worth Sts.,) if accepted. Any studio for under $2000/mo. below 59th Street would be great. I'm not worried about safety; while street smarts must obviously be executed by all who live there, I know I'm much safer in NYC, statistically speaking, than in most midwestern cities. My preferred neighborhoods are closer to the law school, for distance sake: West Village, SoHo, Little Italy, Tribeca or Battery Park in Manhattan, as well as Brooklyn Heights. For a young twenty-something from the midwest, where's a good neighborhood to go? Do you have any other suggestions for places in and around NYC I haven't thought of? Thank you!

We're looking for a place to settle down, buy a home that we can appreciate, and raise a family in a good community. Best places to live in USA? We'd like to spend several years in USA for our children to attend school there (we have all necessary documents). Trying to research on web the best places. We're most interested in quality of schools, cultural/art opportunities, dynamic local economy, cost of living, openness to foreigners, nice people, etc.. I can't find good online sources with recent information on statistics like expenditure per pupil, avg. cost of housing, job growth, etc. per metro area. Anyone know good sources? Have traveled in USA extensively and prefer northeast and upper midwest. We exclude from consideration the southeast through Texas. Don't like large metro area California too much either. Can anyone please help?

Best places to live in or near Orlando Florida? I'm starting a new job in Orlando and thus have to relocate. I don't want to live somewhere where everything screams Disney. Instead I'd love to move to a nice suburban area with low crime rates, good schools and with all the essentials (shopping etc) close by. Any recommendations? Please explain in your answer why you picked a specific place. Thank you very much!
Best places to live in or near London and how I will be preceived.? A bit about me: I am from the U.S. and just graduated from law school. Next year I will move to work in London, and need all the help I can get. I wouldn't want to spend more that about $3000/ £1500 a month on rent, unless I absolutely had to. Will that get me a relatively nice place to live? Any other advice about my move would be helpful too, i.e. things to expect, how I will be preceived, etc. Oh and I have been reading up on American accents and the preceptions that go along with it...haha...mine is pretty neutral (neither northern nor southern) and I speak rather mildly. I love sports, and have found a liking for football (soccer). :o) Thanks!

Best places to live?? I currently live in Reno, Nevada, and I am going to explode if I don't get out of here soon. What I want is pretty simple. It HAS to be peaceful. Low crime rates... of course. Affordable cost of living. The rest of want I want, is just things I'd like... Christian community. No hurricanes, tornados, ect. Friendly, polite people. Small town away from big cities and things. Walmart. (My home away from home no matter where it is lol) (If you have lived in Reno, you can see that what I want is pretty much the exact opposite of what I have right now.) Also, I'm only 17, will be leaving as soon as I'm 18. So a place that a young person could survive would be nice +^_^+
