Best cities in California to live? I realize that I will get a ton of repsonses, and whats good for one person isnt for another, but I live in Hollywood, and dont really care for it. I really would have to question who likes living in this area, rather depressing. I feel that if I move back east, Boston, that I will regret it, because it may be unfair to judge CA based on LA. I am not into clubbing. I am in my late twenties, and enjoy real, happy, down to earth people, hard to find in Hollywood. How about Burbank? Also, I cant get over how expensive the houses are. I really wish I went to college out here 6 years ago and bought a house. Thanks

Could anyone reccomend a city or town that is cheaper and safer? Ive heard san diego is nice, but is very expensive? Why is the White population of major California cities shrinking? I've looked at projected demographic info for many CA cities (like LA and San Diego), and it looks like by the year 2030, many of these cities will look substantially different than they do now. The Hispanic populations will increase a lot while the White population will decrease modestly. What does this mean? Percentage wise, even if the white population continues to grow, the percentage of whites in these areas will go down. Does this mean that a lot of Whites are leaving CA or does it simply mean that immigrants are coming in much faster than Whites are having children? Are a lot of White people choosing to leave CA bc they're afraid of all of the immigrants? Well, teresathegreat, thanks for accusing me of using alarmist tactics in order to get racist responses from people...I can tell, you're really sensitive to the underlying point of most questions. Not.

I am looking for a cool city in southern california if possible (but not los angeles). may be even northern california if there's a really nice city there that takes you away from it all. Prefferably I want the city to have a lot of life and culture and hopefully take me away from everyday stress.
Where is the best place to live in Southern California? I'm moving to California next June, and was wondering what is the best city in Southern California to live at? I'm going there to start my music and acting career in Show Business. I know that Los Angeles is the place to go for that but I want to know is there a nice city close to Los Angeles that is safe, clean, and cost efficient. Thanks...

Two California Cities to vote on banning smoking in apartments? What do you think of these proposals? Are we going to let the government in our homes telling us what we can and cannot do? Isn't the government just going to far with controlling us in our own homes? How far will it the governemt go, and can we let it happen? USA Today 10/03/2007 P.S. I am not a smoker! M G: The point would be you would have no choice. That should be up to the owner of the building, don't you think? George P.: All you would have to do is draw up a lease with the no smoking provision in it! Hotels have non-smoking rooms. I have a smoke free house. I just don't think the government should be the one having the say. Too much Big Brother?

Which cities in California require apartments to be submetered for water? I know Ventura required it in a 2004 ordinance, but are there any other cities which also passed a law requiring multi-unit buildings to equip each unit with sub-meters separately measuring water consumed by the occupants of each individual unit? This is supposed to help conserve water, BTW -- individual tenants are billed for how much water they actually use instead of paying part of an apartment-wide share or it just being factored into the rent.
Are there any cities in California? Are there any cities in California that only require 3 years of English, or 30 credits for English for high school? Are there any cities in California that only require 3 years of English, and only requires 215 or 220 credits to graduate from high school? Thanks. Thanks, but I meant "what" cities? Like in Los Angeles, San Francisco, and San Diego, these cities require you to take 4 years of English. But "what cities" require "3 years" of English?

what are some close cities to fullerton california?!?!? I'll be attending school at Fullerton state and me and 3 other friends are looking for a 3 bedroom apartment. Does anyone know of any close cities to Fullerton California that aren't too long from the state school? we were looking in anaheim and Brea. But are there any others that are good areas? Also, if you know of any apartment complexes that offer 3 bedroom in those areas i would really appreciate it because 3 bedrooms seems to be very rare to find. Majority of the apartments we've looked at only offered 2 bedrooms. But anyways, please let me know! i would really appreciate it! i already lived in the dorms at another state college. I had to move due to personal reasons and transfered to Fullerton state. As much as i would love to relive the dorm experience, i think i'm ready to live in a apartment! i've already looked at the schools apartment listings. There were about 5 complexes that offered 3 bedrooms and i've seen all 5 except one, but the lady who showed me the listings told me to not live there because its shitty..haha yes, she said shitty.
What cities and/or states in the US have the best special ed districts to teach in? I recently became credentialed in california but am open to other cities and other states in the u.s. Small cities in California? I'm just bored right now. I guess this is my form of fantasizing. I'm not really planning on moving anytime soon. Anyway, I'm just curious as to nice small cities anywhere in California. I guess small would be 50,000 or below, I'm not sure. I live in Los Angeles, and sometime I feel like getting away. I realize that having lived in the city my whole life I probably would not like small city life, but I can always take a look online, right?

And Right now I am VERY angry with the police department in my city . Without getting personal I have went to them telling them I was in danger and Not only did they not listen , but they made rude and obnoxious remarks and I caught some of them taking bribes from the criminals. They have not only not protected me but they have laughed at me. I have NEVER been treated like this by my local police! This is leading me to decide to move to a better town Where the police are strict with bad guys and have a good reputation. MY Question is : What Towns/Cities in southern california [ if thats possible] Have Good Police who are pretty much "white flaggers" and are strict with the bad guys?? -- Know of Any?
what are some mild-temperature cities in southern california? .. coming from a warmer, more even-tempered zone, I'm shocked by Californian L.A. weather. One day it's 60; in 3 days it shoots to 98, with unbearable sun glare. It's also very dry. Just like they said, it's "semi-arid climate, with extreme variation between daytime and nighttime temperature". My skin literally flakes off from this extremity. Since California is such a geographically & climactically diverse state, which southern CA area/cities are more even tempered year-round? Say.. a gentler and consistent 70-85 year-round? Yes, I looked up wikipedia. Just want to hear from real people who actually live there..
What are some affordable cities in california where you can live peacefully in private? right now i have these cities in mind, 1. Montecito 2. Del Mar 3. La Jolla my income is around $100G+ these are the places that i can afford to live in that i believe has more of a private residence as opposed to city like san francisco where you have to look at your neighbors or whoever as soon as you step out of the house, as i don't like being disturbed and controlled. so a so-called gated community is out of the question since you have to follow all the rules and stuff. what are some other cities in CA that would satisfy me?
What are the most happening cities in Florida and California, both in terms of gen. culture & the indie scene? I'm an artist and musician interested in moving to Florida or California. I like big cities, but don't want to live in one. 1 or 2 hours away would be good. I'm into the nightlife -- great danceclubs where you can actually feel comfortable, places with Style but not too pretentious or ritzy. I'm into shows, the likes of the Shins / Decemberists. Just drove 600+ miles to see Radiohead at Bonnaroo last week -- I'm 25, and this should give you a good sense of the things I'm into. Where do like-minded people move to in Florida & California? Where is the youth scene unmistakably alive, but somewhat of a well-kept secret? Maybe you live there, maybe you've toured there, maybe you've visited, maybe you've simply heard of a place ... Let's get the ultimate list going, cause I'm sure I'm not the only one looking to relocate--
