What are the best US cities for life and small business? We currently live and run a small museum of live tarantulas and reptiles in Helen GA, which is an European like little town with many tourists coming to and lots of walking zones. However we are a little bit tired of Georgia and would like to move to a different city/state. Does anyone know about a any city /town that is very much visited by tourists, has a big walking downtown, you do not need car in as our business is not a common store and is dependent on tourism and travelers. Thank you for all your suggestions.

Making new friends would be a top priority. We love to entertain, garden, hike and read. A place with a college where we could take classes, and local theater group for plays would be ideal. We recently returned from Eureka Springs, AR. Beautiful town, but a bit far from hospitals and essential services. Any suggestions greatly appreciated!
How can I buy a cheap airline ticket from small cities in southeast? I'm living close to the Miss. State Univerisity. It's close to the airports of Columbus, MS, also Tupelo, MS and Tuscloosa, AL. I search almost all ticket websites but the prices are much to high. Sure I know the way to buy tickets from Jackson, MS or Birmingham or Memphis. However these cities are a little far away and the gas would cost a lot if I drive there. When I was in northwest, it was easy to find cheap tickets from internet, even small airports.
Best Small Town Rural Southern Cities to Live In? So I've been through a lot of times in the area I live in, and it holds a lot of patterned routines that are not healthy for my mindset. I'm also not suited for the income that is required to maintain a lifestyle here, or the atmosphere that this environment provides. I've been trying to do some research into quiet rurual southen areas that are low key and low population, traditional types-- farmers markets and country stores and local shops and such, not so spread out that it's not functionally developed, but enough to have a community thats welcoming and involved. I know all the big busy names likes Savannah and Atlanta and those things, but I'm trying to find the smaller off "45 minutes from such and such" places, where places go as fixer upers and small amount of land for cheap, get the drift? I'm from South Florida so the heat doesn't do me me in, it's the snow I have only seen once in my life. I'm a simple sort of girl really and not in the meek sense, I just don't have the taste for down here, I'd rather be sitting out back on my friends poarch and working and things like that then trying to beat 'f rush how... y'know.. the more natual qualities and bountiful things

How do find the best psychiatrist in my small city? I was in NYC and had a good doctor who diagnosed me as Bipolar II, last March. But I moved back with my parents in a southern town. But I need to find a good regular doctor to see once a month. I am on Lithium, Effexor, and Xanax.
What are some thoughts on the best medium to small US city? I've recently moved to San Francisco (well... Oakland, but i'm in SF a good amount) and am not sure it's for me. I've lived in Boston, and Portland, OR as well and just haven't seemed to find my niche. I'm looking for something generally laid back and on the warmer side, but not so small that it doesn't have culture and really great places to eat/drink and food/record/clothing shop. Any thoughts?

Why are all the state capitals in the US in relatively small cities? The capital of NY is in Albany, not NYC. The capital of PA is in Harrisburg, not Philadelphia The capital of TX is in Austin, not Dallas Houston Is there a reason (national security for example) to establish the state capitals in relatively non-significant cities, or this is purely due to some tradition in the past?

Can anyone suggest any good, small, cheap cities to live in California? I was just wondering if anyone has any suggestions on a small, safe, and cheap city to live in California. By small I mean with a population of about 100,000 or so. I don't want to live in a place with a pop. over 1,000,000. I'd prefer if there were any sports teams. Also a place that the apartments would be reasonably priced. And most important of all, a safe city. Hope someone can help.

Why are people that live in big cities more liberal than people that live in small cities? It seems like, in general, people that live in big cities are more liberal than people that live in small cities. New Yorkers, for example, are in general more liberal than people that live in Des Moines Iowa. People in Boston are more liberal than people that live in Lincoln Nebraska, and people in San Francisco are more liberal than people in Bismark North Dakota. It's not an exact relationship. Obviously, there are conservatives in big cities, but in general it seems like big cities are more liberal. I'm not judging or advocating that trend, just observing it. What are the reasons for that?
Can anyone name some small cities/towns in Montana? I'm looking to move to Montana. I want to live in a smaller city or town that is more rural. I'm looking for that small community feel. Most common speed limit for the major thoroughfares in the small cities.? What is the common speed limit for the major thoroughfares (4 lane street going from one end of town to the other) if it's not a highway? The population of the town would be somewhere around 75,000-150,000. My guess would be 35 in the main part of the city and 40-45 in the more outskirts area of town.

What are some good US cities for small meetings with 8-25 people? Our organization has various committee members that live throughout the United States. They often need to travel to a location, have a meeting, then go back home. Ideally, I'm looking for airport locations where fares are typically cheaper and that have direct flights to many cities, and nice cheap airport hotels with small meeting rooms. Any suggestions?
are poor people in expensive cities richer than poor people in cheap small towns? I'm talking in absolute, not relative, terms here. In other words, will the average poor person in an expensive city like New York or San Francisco have more money or income, in absolute terms, than their poor counterparts in small towns and places where the cost of living (and property) is much lower than in big cities? Or are the poor always poor and thus comparable regardless of the average affordability of the city in which they live?
Safest large town/small cities to live in the US? Obviously, there's unlikely to be much crime in a small town of 5000, but can you suggest any safe, large towns (population 100,000 - 200,000), that doesn't have too many social problems, and generally has good amenities, shopping, etc, without having to travel too far.
Small cities in California? I'm just bored right now. I guess this is my form of fantasizing. I'm not really planning on moving anytime soon. Anyway, I'm just curious as to nice small cities anywhere in California. I guess small would be 50,000 or below, I'm not sure. I live in Los Angeles, and sometime I feel like getting away. I realize that having lived in the city my whole life I probably would not like small city life, but I can always take a look online, right?
country turism for small cities? I am think about starting a water park in a small city in the in the countryside. From the point of view of a city's government, what are the benefits?
Which are the best cities in Europe for a group of 18 year olds to visit? So, me and my friends are going to do the Inter Rail these holidays, and the trajectory we were planning was Lisbon (from where we set out) ---> Barcelona ----> Civitavecchia--> Rome --> Venice ---> Greece (still don't know where) ---> Budapest ----> Prague ---> Berlin ----> Amsterdam ----> Brussels ----> London ----> Paris ----> San Sebastian ----> Lisbon. We have 22 days to do it. Recommendations for cities to visit are welcome! Small cities and towns are also OK (as long as they have a train station. We are mainly going to party, don't suggest cities with based on cultural/historical stuff... Nice cities (aesthetically pleasing) with fun, young and hot people would be the best.
Cities????? I need a list of small/biggish cities in Washington or upper Oregan, as long as it rains---a lot. I need the picks of cities too. If someone could find a site that has these that would be GREAT!!!!!!!!
What is the best US medium or small sized city to live in without a car? I'm currently living in NYC. I'm starting to think about somewhere to relocate to in maybe a year or so. I've never gotten my driver's license. I tried once many years ago but I was just horrible. I'm looking for a smaller city where I can get around ok without a car. I've heard some good things about both Portland and Madison and if anyone wanted to extend their opinion regarding those two or add to my list, I'd be grateful. I'd be renting and looking for something less than then I pay in NYC (obviously, ha)! I'd love a place that has concerts regularly and maybe a quiet bar with good beers. I also wouldn't mind some semblance of variety with local restaurant options. I'm an office manager working in the creative field so the availability of work at a design or advertising firm, publisher or something similar would be a plus (but not a deal-breaker). Finally, I've been toying with the idea of getting a scooter that doesn't require a license for what that's worth.
Best Cities To Live In? I was wondering what some good cities to live in are? I live in ohio right now and I hate it! I have lived here all my life and I think its soooooo lame and boring. I really would like to live in a big city but I have lived in the country most of my life outside of a small city! I dont like the cold, and I would like to be close to amusement parks so I could get season passes!
Best gay-friendly cities to live in the southern U.S.? Are there any cities in the south of U.S. where gays are welcomed, or at least well-accepted? I'm used to living in huge cities where being gay is hardly an issue. There may be some job opportunities for me in the bible belt of the south. What might some of my options be? It would be nice if there were a decent gay culture (like Atlanta) too. But beyond Atlanta, I'd like to find out about much smaller cities that might not be so obvious as well. What do you think? Hearing about cities to definitely avoid is helpful too. I'm hoping to hear about less obvious big cities, plus smaller cities in these states: LA, MS, AL, GA, TN, AR, the Carolinas. Thanks!
Best cities to live in the States? I know this question has been asked many times, but always get different opinions. I would like to hear it again. I lived in Bay Area, California for 5 years, then for job related issue, currently live in Vancouver, Canada. I kinda like both places. The California has very nice weather, but not much going on (boring). Vancouver is nice, very convenient to go around, nice beaches, but rains a lot, and small city. I am considering to move to Florida, which I heard it's fun, like beaches, weather, crowded, but downsides could be the education (for our children in the future), and safety. Any suggestions would be much appreciated! I live in San Jose area, there's nothing going on. There's no cars on the street after 10pm, all stores closed. If I wanted to go to beaches, I had to drive like 1 hour, and found out there's nobody there, even in the weekend. New York could be fun, like the scenes in Garfields where he lives. anyone know which area/city is that?
Electricity refund not fair to small cities? My hometown buys elec. from AEP they now tell us we wont be given a refund because they didnt increase the elec they sold to us A lie because my electric went up and this month it was pretty much back to normal what do you think about a city gov like this
Do you feel that there is more privacy in large cities or small towns? Why? I've lived both in large, urban, metropolitan areas and I've lived in small, rural, isolated areas. And I get two answers for this. Some move to the cities for more privacy (everyone knows your business in a town of 400 people), and some move to the country for more privacy (you can drive ten minutes and not see anybody for miles). But I suppose a lot of it depends on your description of privacy (emotional, physical, personal) and your general preferences regarding city life vs country life. What does privacy mean to you? Is privacy important in choosing where you live? Have you found more privacy in densely populated areas or sparsely populated areas?
