Where are the best places to live near Dallas Texas? My family is moving to Texas. We are white, middle income and want to raise our kids in a good town / neighorhood without alot of crime and gangs etc: and good school districts. We need to be within 35 miles of Baylor University. We plan to rent. We are looking for a good neighorhood where people are friendly, no cars on the lawn, no strip clubs and all night liquor stores etc. etc. Which towns and neighorhoods should we look at, and which should we avoid? Thanks for all your help.
Leaving Boston and going to the South. What are best places for cheap living/employment, preferably in Texas? I like the south better than the north, but I am on a budget; small military pension. I would like to move to Texas or somewhere else in the south that's warm and life generally more pleasant. I am a middle-aged retired military woman who was an administrator for many years. I have a Business Administration degree as well as graduate work in education. I am on a pretty small pension so I am looking for a city that's cheap, warm, and has fast employment opportunities. What do you think? Thanks!
What are the best places in Texas? Use any criteria you choose. Austin: Friendly, mellow vibe, Town Lakefront is really beautiful, Sixth Street and Capitol are big assets to the city. San Antonio: Riverwalk, Alamo, and a very fast-growing, progressive job market. Fort Worth: Southern hospitality dosed with old West heritage, which it has preserved so well. Galveston: Incredibly friendly, the Strand is neat and reminiscent of an old-school beach town, the beaches on the western part of the island are really clean and quiet. McGregor: They have this good restaurant there called "The McGregor Cafe." Bush ate there when he was Governor. It's about 10 mi. S. of Crawford and 15 mi. W. of Waco, the people are really friendly. Arlington: So much fun, and AmeriQuest Field is truly a great place to watch baseball! New Braunfels: A nice suburban community just N. of San Antonio. All of these places are beautiful with friendly people! Almost every place I've been to in TX has left me w/ a good impression.

Best places to live in Texas....? What are the best cities in Texas, to live? For a single, mid to late 20's girl (w/ a dog)... Austin? Dallas? Houston? San Antonio? .... All in all, what does each city have to offer... good night life? lots of parks? lots of people? weather? I just need some opinions on different places in texas... I'm a california girl, looking to relocate.... possibly to Texas. I've never been there and just curious what life is like in Texas, what the different cities are like... how the people are?
What is the best place in Texas? I liked Ft. Worth, Austin, San Antonio, and Galveston. If you have any other cities or towns to suggest, chime in. Thanks! I've heard that Houston and Dallas are nice, but rather bland, if you will; by that, I mean they're each a great hodge-podge of world cultures, but the cities don't preserve their character or history (only what I've heard, though.) I've also heard that Tyler, El Paso, Laredo, Amarillo, Lubbock, Kingsville, and College Station are all nice areas. I don't live in Texas, by the way, but love the climate, culture (or, in the case of Austin, the whole eclectic mix of them,) and the downright friendliness of the place. I plan to move there from Kentucky as soon as I receive my Bachelor's degree.
Any places for bariatric rehabilitation in Texas? I am extremely obese (around 700 pounds) and have all the problems associated with obesity, most notably lymphedema. I am becoming less and less mobile and need help. Thanks.

How flexible are places like Texas Roadhouse, Target, etc for students, teenagers? I was wondering just how flexible places can be with students and teenagers when it comes to their work schedules. Do these places let you work just on the weekends or on specific days when you don't have specific time commitments? Any tips or suggestions would rock my world.

What are your top five places to visit in Texas? My wife and I frequently travel to TX to visit my family. They live in the Houston area. Next time we go there, I'm going to travel to Dallas and do one huge JFK assassination pilgrimage. Going to TX has become something I really enjoy. Here are my five, from bottom to top: 5. Texas state Capitol - Austin 4. San Jacinto Monument/Battleship TX - LaPorte 3. Galveston Beach - Galveston County 2. The Alamo - San Antonio (hint - go late at night when the most of the tourist traps are closed - the lights on the shrine reflect the bullet holes. You can really feel that an intense battle took place) 1. Fredericksburg - Very interesting WWII museum, birth place of Admiral Chester Nimitz, lots of good German restaurants and beautiful antique shops. Small quaint town (another hint - if you stay in Fredericksburg, stay at the Best Western. It's a few blocks off the main drag, but a wonderful hotel. It's the best one my wife and I have stayed in of all BW's). What say you all
