Inspired by the Top 10 Best Places To Live in America- Can You Tell Me About Where You Live? (was difficult to categorize this question) This Money list of Best Places To Live 2007 inspired me to want to ask you about where you live. http://money.cnn.com/magazines/moneymag/bplive/2007/ Obviously, many places did not make the top 10- and that is why I think this question & answers would be interesting. Can you tell me about where you live and why you think it may be deserving of being listed as one of the "Best Places To Live"? OK- no responses yet. If you are worried about publicly listing where you live- feel free to send me a private email :)

What makes America the best country in the world and the best place to live? My fellow Americans are always saying that this country is the best in the world. As far as the standard of living do you really believe America is the best country on earth or close to it? I'm hoping to travel to some of the places I think that look like they have a better standard of living than America such as Germany and France- ( in pictures and on camera these places look like they have more culture and are nicer than America) True or not? What makes America so good anyway?

Do USA Conservatives agree these are the best places to live in America? This is my openminded Liberal list of best places to live and retire in America. 3 of them are like in California. 1) Berkeley, California (Spend your old years on Telegraph Avenue and mingle with the aged flower children) 2) Greenwich Village, New York City (Build tent in Washington Square Park and pick up a guitar) 3) Haight Ashbury, San Francisco, California (Find some homegrown and take it easy and forget about bills, paint and tie dye and protest to keep your aging body as you retire in peace and love.) 4) Detroit, Michigan (Relax your retired years by building a GM automobile and motown while you work.....and dance in the streets of 8-mile road) 5) Providence, Rhode Island (Enjoy a collegy and diverse youthful environment and mingle with the openminded people and sing songs while you eat the best calamari you ever put in your mouth) 6) Oakland, California (Punkrock out the rest of your life) 7) Cambridge, Massachusetts (Conservatives might fit in well here because they would cheer on the police every time they arrest African American Harvard professors when they break into their own apartment homes.) 8) Portland, Oregon (A place for old Conservatives to smell the roses, literally. 9) Southside of Chicago, Illinius (A place for Conservative retirees to find their sense of community, work with African Americans to build and community organize from the grassroots.) 10) Minneapolis, Minnesota (Where old retired Conservatives can kiss and make out under the sculpture garden and join the youth in their transcendental quest to do the same.) Also anywhere in New Jersey or Philly
What is the best place to live in America according to my criteria? I currently live in Mid-Michigan, the lower part. The economy sucks here and the people are very uneducated, ignorant and cliqueish, though the people do have manners and are reasonably friendly. I want to live in a place where people are friendly, reasonably intelligent but not overbearingly pretentious and arrogant and has a good economy. Currently, where I live, using proper grammar and reading the newspaper qualifies you as a genius. There is a lot of crime, drug use and apathy. I don't think it'd be a good place to raise kids if I have any. The people are pretty depressing. I really like the West Coast, but I'm open to anywhere else. I'm black and East Indian(yes, the curry/slurpee kind), by the way. I'm not from Michigan or America originally, by the way. I used to live in Ann Arbor and I hated it as a student. The people were arrogant, pretentious, politically loony and pseudo-intellectual and had no social skills WHATSOEVER.
Why Are None Of The World's Or America's Best Places To Live "Chocolate Cities"? Best Place In America To Live? I'd like to move to America, where would be the best place for me to live? My criteria are: 1) Not too violent 2) Not too expensive 3) Not full of crazy redneck racist homophobes 4) Near some nice places for cheap camping ie. forest/National parks/quiet beaches 5) Easy access to theatre, foreign films, live music, art galleries, concerts, music festivals etc 6) Warmer climate, let's say at least south of New York, preferably closer to Louisiana/Florida/San Diego 7) Somewhere you could keep a couple of large dogs, so either big houses or large gardens/properties with cheap rent or if there is a place that has trailer parks that aren't complete sh*tholes and allow dogs that would be okay 8) Prefer plenty of clean parks 9) Good public transport 10) Easy to get work 11) Places to buy organic produce Also with clubs and places to go out for under 21's Can you be as specific as possible please, finding an actual town or city and then an area within that city is the hardest part
Best place to live in America ? I am thinking of my future after I finish my education. I want to live somewhere where I will experience the least amount of prejudice and hate. I am currently living in Miami and its probably the most racist and classicist place I have ever lived. The ironic thing is its minority v.s. minority here. Anyway, I heard Vermont is nice and so is Rhode Island. Which do you think (or know) is the best?

Where is the best place to live in America? Now before jumping in telling me how great your town/city is, I have certain criteria to be met. 1. Summer - warm, not too hot. High 80s upwards wears me out. 2. Winter - not too cold and little/no snow. I'm a Brit looking for warmer climes. 3. Population - twixt 100k - 250k (circa 90,000 might also qualify). 4. Weather - NO hurricanes, tornadoes, earthquakes, flooding etc. Not too much rain either. 5. Crime - low (preferable VERY low). 6. Lakes - bring 'em on. 7. Hills/mountains - nice to look at. I might even climb one. 8. Good schools - for 10 year old. 9. Religion - Jewish community of at least 200 families. 10. Quality of life - excellent. Clean air. Clean water. Friendly people. 11. Cost of living - in between inexpensive and reasonable. I don't want to have to work to live or should that be the other way round? 12. Arts & Culture - theatres, cinemas and museums nearby. 13. Health - Great hospitals/medical facilities. Thank you.

Which city in America is the best place to live? Why? Me and my wife are bored here in Austin, Texas because there is hardly anything to do. We are both not into sports and we both graduated from college so we are not into college anymore. We both like movies, we're not into music that much but here is the music capital. In career sense, this is probably the worst place to have a career since pay is cheap and things are very expensive. The bus system is terrible because it is slow and ineffecient and everybody pretty much drives everywhere. The only reason we are here is because of our family being close but my question is where is the best city in America to live in? We like to do things in our spare time, be able to take public transit a lot since gas is close to $4, have a great career, and things need to be very affordable. Where do you think the best city in Ameria is and why?

What city in America would you say is the best place to live? If you, spouse, and children honestly do not have a prejudice bone in your body. I am talking about a true colorblind city where everyone is considered equal and treated as such. Or am I dreaming? Please only honest answer.... With low crime also....I got to think about the kids.
