What are some of the best places to live in the U.S with children?

If you live in a nice place and you have children and love it where you are would you let me know. We are looking for places to settle down and I want to make sure it is kid friendly but I don't know even the first place to look. I can look on some websites but I think word of mouth is the best. I would love some input on crime, cost of living and schools. Thank so much

  1. The best place for that is CANADA. Sorry, no place down south comes anywhere close, lol.
  2. no matter where you move you will still have to try to keep your kids away from drugs when the reach about 10 to 14. I lived in Appleton Wisconsin. good schools nice people cheap. but there is nothing to do to occupy kids time but party. drink and do drugs. sorry the stuff is every where.
  3. South Dakota
  4. I have found rural Arkansas to be a great place to have been brought up and to raise my own family. It was also a good place for my grandparents to have been brought up and to raise up my parents. It also seemed to have been a good place for my great-grandparents to have been brought up and their parents to - our geneology shows about 5 to 7 generations have been brought up here. We are in Harrison, which is 30 minutes south of Branson, MO, so fun and entertainment are not that far away. We are a dry county so we don't have to worry about alochol stores and the crime that is associated with that. We have drug problems, but I've yet to be in any community that didn't, and as a former truck driver, I've been all over the U.S. and I'd still rather come back home. We have many educational opportunities, so a person is not limited to public school education in Arkansas. Our crime rate is one of the lowest in per capita populous. We are close to the Buffalo National River. It is a mountainous area. We have distinctive seasons. Income potential is not great and a lot of people do work out of Branson or even Springfield MO, which for it's size is also an excellent city for living in and raising a family. Good luck in your search.
  5. Rainier Oregon, Home to many fellow hunters and fishers. 45 minutes to Portland Oregon. My son talked with all the men when we dined at Kathy's restraunt from age 2. Park near river is very pleasant. Great rural farming community. Close to Oregon Museum of science, Portland Zoo, Oregon Health Science University where you can get experts in all fields for yours and your child's health. In 3 years we will be moving back. I can't wait. I miss the ability to socialize so freely, and being greeted so warmly. My son has not had that opportunity since coming to Colorado. Also 2 hours away is the beach or 2 hours the other way is Puget sound. Views of mt. saint Helen's, mt. rainier and mt. hood. Every type of terrain you could imagine. 3-4 hours away in eastern Oregon is high desert. Check out their web site.

  7. I live in a suburban town north of Denver CO near a police substation. I live in a cost-efficient neighborhood with little crime, where my children go to a great school, have excellent daycare, and I can provide for them well because of a superior job index. This arrangement is best for us and whether or not it would be for you depends largely on your family's needs and your work experience and qualifications. I was in your position less than a year ago living in an inner-city neighborhood in Las Vegas wondering where the best place for my children's' upbringing would be. I'm glad to be here and I hope your search is a successful one. I wish you the best for yourself and your children! Good luck, and God bless!! Anthony
  8. there really isn't any good places to live these days. Today's society has changed, things can happen no matter where you live. It's your responsiblity to keep up with what your children are up to no matter where you are. Good luck
  9. California or Washington If you want to check out demographics, test scores, and overall statistics for public schools, here is a good website. Also, if you're working with a Realtor, have them assist you with information regarding crime rates in areas you are interested in. Or, you can check out the official city websites. Police departments will also have the information available, if you inquire.
  10. Bad Axe Michigan
  11. Seattle WA was wonderful to live with my kids. Next to no crime, wonderful people, clean and safe downtown even at night, great schools. Cost of living is a bit high but for the most part the jobs pay more so it evens out. It never gets to hot or to cold. Yea, you hear how it is always raining, but that really isnt true. Gray and dreary a lot but that is it for winter. Almost never snows. I would move back there in a second if I could. Central New Jersey were I am at now is also very very nice.
  12. KILLEEN, TX, WOULD BE A GOOD PLACE, AND NEVER A BIG CITY LIKE PHILADELPHIA OR NEW YORK.
