best places to live

I need info. on best places to live/homes in Texas?

Public Comments

  1. That is a hard one. I wouldn't live at any of the border towns or cities. Texas is such a large state. For example if I drive to visit my sister it takes my about 9 hours. Some of the better cities are San Antonio, Austin, El Paso(really booming now) Dallas/Ft. Worth. Houston has really gotten too large.
  2. I agree with Minnie, though so much of it depends on your own personality. I know a lot of people who would probably not want to live in Texas at all outside Austin. I've personally lived in Corpus Christi, Houston and Austin and spent time in San Antonio and Dallas. All are OK, though you have to work harder to find your fit in the larger cities. As far as finding a home, housingmaps is pretty handy (http://housingmaps.com/).
  3. Austin is a great city. It is fun, hip and liberal. If you are thinking about the Dallas area there are lots of cities just outside of Dallas. Plano, Allen, Rowlett, Rockwall or Las Colinas. It is hard to give more information, not knowing what part of the state you are looking at or why you are moving there.
  4. you need to go to the Texas Tourist web and look around. Tx has nearly 5 diverse climate and 7 cultural areas. best place is where you and spouse get jobs before moving. best for me could be a hole in the underside of Hades for you. do some serious research.
  5. San Antonio. Big city stuff available, with small town folks to be around. We have the Spurs, Sea World, Fiesta Texas (Six Flags), and the Alamo! It's also becoming a great golfing city. From here you can visit Mexico, the gulf coast (fun fishing there), even drive to Austin pretty quick if that's your thing (too liberal for me)
