where are one of the best places to raise a family west of houston texas?

3. Katy is great for families. Nearly every neighborhood had a community pool and tennis courts - some have playgrounds too! The schools are outstanding. However, the traffic on I-10 is terrible if you have to commute any further East than Hwy 6. Keep your eyes peeled, though, allot of companies are moving out to the 'burbs - as they are able to hire and retain better employees.

6. Sugar Land, just recently named one of the five safest cities in the U.S.
7. Sugar Land or Katy. Cypress is nice if you want to go a little further north and still stay on the west side. But FYI - the commute on 290 is horrible.
8. Katy or Cypress, Cypress is better especially between 290 and 249. Cy-Fair is the 4th best school district in TX. Hmm maybe that isnt saying much :)
9. All those places are a bit boring though so just be prepared.. if you are coming from a place like NY, LA or Chicago it will be a huge shock..
