Ireland (Eire) has been named Best place to live in the World - ! Is it ?
What do you think - have you been to Eire - not to be confused with Northern Ireland.. I always thought it was a bit caught up in the Dark Ages . What country would you like to live in _ apart from your own.. http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/4020523.stm?lspan

- personally no i think cyprus is
- I seem to be in the Emerald Isle sir. They have all of the modern conveniences of the day. My apartment is even illuminated by electric light.
- Best place in the world is Cotswolds, England or Wales.
- If you like potatoes
- I've been to Ireland (Eire) loads of times and absolutely love the place, wonderful people, really friendly with a heart of gold, a beautiful country too, as much as I love Ireland and my own country I think I'd like to go live somewhere were its warm and sunny all year round, the Caribbean would do me.
- Unfortunately I haven't been there yet, but I'd love to! Turkey is my country and I'm really happy here, I lived in Rome Italy) for many years, then in Paris for 3 years and in Bakü for 2; however I wouldn't like to live in any of those three countries for good although I love to travel and do adapt myself very easely to every new environment; other than Turkey, I'd like to live in USA, Canada or in the Caribbeans.
- caught up in the dark ages?, what you think im writing this with a telegraph machine!.
- I think you have rather hit the nail on the head (though I wouldn't go to the extreme you do) in that Eire is quiet, quaint and probably a little old-fashioned in comparison with the UK or USA (though not I'd say with many other parts of Europe). Also it's not a place to go if you like lots of sunshine and don't much care for the rain. I like to visit it though - great people! The most exciting place I went to was an island off the main part of Venezuela ie Margarita - but not sure if I'd actually want to live there! I reckon I'd be happy enough living in Cornwall
- i live in Ireland and it is one of the best places in the world without a doubt. but there are several things about being the best place to live the cities are wildly expensive and cost of housing is astronomical. i live outside the capital but no matter where you are in Ireland 4 hours drive will take you there. to me it is the best place in the world to live but it could be improved. i would love to tow the country to the med and then we would have everything
- dark ages yeah right last week we got electric in the chapel and a rich git from down the road has a flushing toilet and a t v and I'm using 1 of the only 2 computers in the country to answer this question Ireland is one of the most developed countries in the world, the amount of tech company's who are setting up in Ireland is amazing it is not called the gateway to Europe for nothing. if you think Ireland was way behind you should look into some of things that it has given the world. just because we dint make it on the news every day for spending billions of pounds on military does not mean were not advanced. your question is kind of daft as everyone will have there own ideas on what the want a place to live in should be like. in my view Ireland is the best country in the world to live in but if i wanted to move i would go to turkey, another country with laid back people who take things in their stride and who pompous gits like you think the are in the dark ages. OH IF IT MEANS THAT YOU WONT COME HERE YES IRELAND IS A SH1TE HOLE to all other open minded people come visit us.
- Best place ? Not really, it depends on your personal interest & preferences... If you like those ruins, antiquities, artifacts & etc of course, you'll fallin love with Eire. If you are into highlands, Scotland will be your spot, if you love romantic scene, Paris will be your choice. It depends... If I really had to choose, I'll pick up England or Germany, why ? I love castles...
