Nice places to visit in North Carolina?

I live in Georgia. My husband and I want to go to North Carolina for the weekend. We have 3 kids, one is only 5 month, so it has to be a kid friendly place (s). We love nature, animals and parks. Any ideas? Thank you!

1. Ride the Blue Ridge Parkway.
2. Try the Outer Banks of North Carolina. It's a strip of beaches along the coast which include Carova and Corolla where wild horses still roam the beach and neighborhoods, Kitty Hawk where the Wright Brothers first took flight and now have a museum, and Nags Head, a popular tourist destination with miniature golf, shopping, go karts, etc. Hatteras is included nearby, which has camping, fishing and surfing. Kayaking, hang gliding, 4-wheeling, and golfing abound. Vacation oriented to fit anyone's needs! And you can rent cottages so that there's more room for the family with full kitchens to avoid eating out every meal.
