- Don't forget about Bubba's place. I so envy you, would love to meet Paula and sons.
- If you like real Southern type cooking, I love Mrs. Wilkes Dining Room. It is served family style with bowls upon bowls of good old Southern classics like Fried Chicken, Beef Stew, greens, the best Mac and Cheese you'll ever eat and so much more. All homemade with real butter and all those things that make you hear your arteries harden as you eat but oh so yummy!!! THe Pirates House is also a fun place and food there is also good.
- Just got back from a trip to Savannah in December and we had a blast! I kept saying that the slogan for the Savannah tourism bureau should be "It's Thanksgiving Everyday!" because every day we ate so much wonderful food!!! Our favorites were: Paula Deen's The Lady and Son's, definitely go. You have to go around 9:30am on the day you want to eat and put your name in and they'll tell you when to come back for your "seating". It'll be at 11 or 2 depending on where you were in line. The buffet was so delicious, we enjoyed every southern bite! The Shrimp Factory. It's down on the riverfront and the lunch prices were wonderful and made it much more affordable than at dinner. We ate there again while we were there, that's how good it was, but definitely go at lunch. The Pirate House. Kind of a older looking place with a simple looking buffet but seriously every mouthful was delicious. It's very southern too so space it out from when you eat at Paula Deen's or you'll feel like it's too similar. I was surprised by how good it was though. You have to go to the candy stores down on the riverfront... their are two and they make all their caramel and pecan candy, etc right there and it is WONDERFUL. We bought candy at both and it never made it home! One of them is The Savannah Candy Company and I can't remember the name of the other but they were both great. I really wanted to eat at a place called The Firefly Cafe but we never made it... research it online, it sounded like an interesting place. You will have so much fun just walking through the historic district. The squares are so beautiful... take at least one tour though so you won't miss all of the wonderfu history of the city. We can't wait to go back to take the tours that we missed.
- take it from someone who lived there 13 yrs Mckelweys, teeples, skylers. 606 cafe, palmers, pearls, seashell house, to name a few. Eat up and enjoy
