Cheap/Free places to get married in Georgia?
I am getting married in December and we are on a very very tight budget. My home church charges too much for the use of the church so we are looking elsewhere. I've gone the route of the historic Courthouse in our area but it is around $1000. We are looking for something less then $300. Anyone find places for that cheap? We are considering using my parents house, it is large enough and we have discussed getting our guest list down for the space, but we are still interested in a venue, but one that is really really cheap :) great answers so far!!

- Know anyone with a big back yard? Maybe a public park? Other then that i'd say just go to vegas and get a quickie ceremony for about $150 and then spend your honeymoon there going to the shows and stuff.
- $1000 to get married at the courthouse? You've got to be kidding me. http://usmarriagelaws.com/search/united_states/georgia/index.shtml Info for your state is at site above. Phone number for the courthouse is there too. (It is the number listed under your county.) Call them and ask again, just to be sure. $1000 for a courthouse wedding is just too much. If it really is that expensive, have the wedding at your home. Keep the guest list to a minimum, immediate family only. If your license costs $65 and you give your minister $200 . . . that is only $265. Ask a family member to bake a cake, or buy an inexpensive sheet cake at Walmart. Serve fruit punch. Ask a family member to take photos. There . . . you are married. Good luck to you.
- Georgia's a fairly big state; where in Georgia? Check out your local Art gallery, museum, maybe someone's home or garden. A B&B, winery, even the venue where you're having your reception.
- You can do a wedding at home. That's free!
- check wth local B&B's and believe or not the local cemetary - sometimes they will let you use their chapels for free or at a very nominal cost. Also look at the VFW & local lodges.
