  2. Atlanta area (top 3): Harold's Barbecue (404) 627-9268 171 Mcdonough Blvd Se Atlanta, GA 30315 Dusty's Barbecue (404) 320-6264 1815 Briarcliff Rd Ne Atlanta, GA 30329 Rolling Bones (404) 222-2324 377 Edgewood Ave Se Atlanta, GA 30312 Savannah Area: I am a little more knowledgeable about the Savannah area when it comes to foods. If you want a chain restaurant that is only located in that area that has delicious/affordable bbq, then Carey Hilliards is for you...there are plenty of locations around all of Chatham county (Pooler, Garden City, etc.) Here are my top 3 bbq restaurants: Ken & Candi's BBQ (912) 927-6344 13040 Abercorn St Ste 26 Savannah, GA 31419 Dons Famous BBQ (912) 748-8400 217 E Us Highway 80 Pooler, GA 31322 (good chicken fingers too...if you have kids that don't like bbq) G & B Ribs & Things (912) 748-5099 6014 Ga Highway 21 S Rincon, GA 31326 Hope that helps :)
  3. Fox Bros. BBQ -- (City's Best Great barbecue and great tunes) 1578 Piedmont Ave Atlanta, GA 30324 Phone: 404-875-1522 Smith's Olde Bar seems to be an unlikely source for some of the city's best barbecue, but until Fox Bros. BBQ opens up their own joint, the live music venue is the only place in town to get their pulled pork, ribs and brisket. While most barbecue lovers would be suspicious of a barbecue establishment that serves up both pulled pork and brisket, Fox Bros. pull it off without a hitch. Smoked chicken, turkey and wings are available for poultry lovers. All of the slow-smoked meats are cooked in a pit with oak, hickory, or pecan wood. While all too often side dishes seem mere afterthoughts that pale into comparison to the barbecue, this is not the case with Fox Bros. From the mac-and-cheese to the slow-cooked collard greens and green beans with tomatoes and potatoes, these sides are worth saving room for.
  4. Well everyone around atlanta talks about Harolds and Fresh Air BBQ just south of Jackson, but I have been unimpressed by all of them. As far as BBQ my favorite is Shane's. Now they don't have much of a restaurant, it looks mor like a shack, but there BBQ is as close to real BBQ as I have seen outside of BBQ competitions. Not only is there BBQ delicous, there portions are generous. The first one is on Hwy 155 just north of McDonough (about 35 min south of atlanta), but they have opened many of them now. I haven't tried the ones in atlanta, but the franchise just outside of conyers is as good as the original. http://www.shanesribshack.com/locations.asp
  5. Sconyers' in Augusta...but beware when ordering, a small plate could easily feed two with leftovers. They have catered meals for the White House at the special request of Jimmy Carter. They use a vinegar based sauce...and although GA is known for pork barbeque, they have really good chopped beef. Vandy's in Statesboro...not much to say here except that it's really good. Sherry's in Vidalia...a small building made of concrete block with barely enough room to stand to order. Get it to go...with some Vidalia onion rings! And if you're going to be in SW GA October 5-6, you've got to go to the Big Pig Jig in Vienna (www.bigpigjig.com)
  6. I would definetly say Bones BBQ in Chatsworth Ga, it is a bit out of the way but if you are looking for a true BBQ flavor and not some mass production style of food, this is the place to go.
  7. Sonny's
  8. There are a few around but stay away from places like sonnys and damons... I've had bad things happen to my friends and family. Famous Daves is good. If you ask for the worst seat in the house your meal will be 1/2 off.
  9. Fresh Air BBQ in Athens or Tillman's BBQ in Hillsboro, GA Hate Shane's Rib Shack. Everything tasted pre-processed and packaged. Nothing tasted fresh.
  10. Depends on where you're going in Georgia. I prefer Slope's myself. http://www.slopesbbqalpha.com/
  11. So far no one has given you anthing remotely close to Valdosta or Tifton. Yes, there is the Big Pig Jig in Vienna(pronounced Vie-eener) but about an hour north from Tifton. It is a huge fair type event. Not just BBQ. Now, in Valdosta, on Ashley Street is a place called "Just Bar-B-Que." Very, very good.
