Places to live - Connecticut?

What is the most inexpensive area to live in within ~ 40 minutes of Stamford CT?

1. UMMM thats a hard one, that area is all pretty expensive. I grew up in Willimantic.
2. go north east as far as possible toward the land of ESPN or a bridgeport ghetto
3. I live/work in Stamford. 40 mins...at what time of the day. Going to 'the valley" Shelton is usually a good choice. Stratford, Milford too, but the 40 mins is not rush hour. If you work near the train, then you'll have the option of the Metro North which is very convenient (especially with gas prices). You could go to Port Chester NY, but then you have to contend with NY taxes.
