1. its nice city like and has its suburbs also so it all depends what you are looking for ....in my opinion i'd live there
2. It's more of an industrial city, and it gets really cold during winter time. And they have very bad drivers...
3. Very desired, and pricey becuase of commute to NYC. However, adjacent towns of Greenwich and Darien are more uniformly affluent, and are more expensive. Stamford has a rural north for the home buyer, and many appartments for renters. Connecticut is a great lifestyle, and NYC is a quick train ride.
