Places to see and things to do in South Carolina?

I wanted to plan a trip to South Carolina, and I am looking for ideas on places to go. I was thinking about Hilton Head Island and maybe Charleston? Any cool things to do and see?

1. There is a ton to do in South Carolina. Charleston is FULL of old southern culture and if you want to just embody what it is to be southern then that is where you would want to go...they have tons of shops and historical buildings and it is just amazingly beautiful...if you do go, visit the restuarant Bubba Gumps...it has great food and they do a Q&A every night about the movie and if you answer a question right you win a free beer (if you like to drink). Of all places in South Carolina I would definitly recommend Charleston. You will not be disappointed!
2. I would almost skip pricey Hilton Head Island and go into Beaufort and see that area. There is Hunting Island State Park, which has uncrowded beach. And it is a historical and very scenic town. I was going to move there. I really wish I could have made that work. It is that nice. Also Parris Island is there and the Marine Air Station so there is also Military history and museums. And good shopping to boot!
