Where is the best place to raise a family in South Carolina?

We're contemplating relocating out of California since the cost-of-living is beyond our means. We need to be sure we're moving to area with an emphasis on family. Any suggestions?

1. I from South Carolina and the best place is in Columbia or Charleston.
2. The best places would be the Greenville area or Rock Hill. I live in the Rock Hill area and it is a very family oriented town. It is home to Winthrop University, 20 Minutes from Charlotte,3 hours from the beach and the mountains. Has mild weather. It has a movie theater, a mall, and a lot of restaurants. Greenville is similar to Rock Hill but is larger and is in the upper part of the state in the foot hills of the Appalachian Mountains.
3. It depends on what you consider important. For restaurants, Charleston is best. Try this site out, and select only the southeast US. If you don't get any hits in South Carolina, I'll eat my hat. http://www.findyourspot.com
