- Oh man! i was born and have lived in New York City (Manhattan to be exact) for twenty years and i still have not seen everything that this city offers. It is filled with so much. Ok a sure thing would be to walk around time square and go into the giant Toys R Us store(it has a ferris wheel inside), there are alot of nice restaurants around there so just pick one, you cant go wrong, there is also a Virgin records magastore, alot of broadway theaters, the MTV's TRL building is across the street from Toys R Us, so if you want you might want to see in advance what will be happening that day, what artist will be in the building, and at what time. You might want to go take a ferry trip around manhattan to see the statue of liberty and take pictures and stuff. You can go to the empire state building. You can also take a stroll through central park (the weather is great right now) that is all i can think of for now. Oh and you want an amusement park, the closest one is Coney Island in Brooklyn, it is right next to the beach, really great. Good Luck:) i think that many of these things deserve a full day(coney island for example)so plan a schedule.
- The American Museum of Natural History is a good place to start. That takes a whole day, at least, to get through. But it's wonderful. You can always take in a Broadway show. There are some wonderful ones out there, but I'm particular to Rent. Make sure you visit Rockerfeller Center. It's a must. There's also the Empire State Building, The Guggenheim, MoMa (Museum of Modern Art), and you can always hop a train to see the Mets or the Yankees. You can even make your way to the Bronx Zoo or N.Y. Aquarium on Coney Island. Coney Island itsef is a great place to spend the day. As for food, there are literally a billion restaurants to go to in NYC. As a matter of fact, I believe 46th street is what they call "Restaurant Row". So just wander around (or pick up a Zagats for NYC). You'll find something good. Enjoy your trip!
- Anywhere south of 69th Street is OK. The new Date Rape Row, or where you can go to get drunk at hip trendy bars is anywhere near 14th Street and 10th Avenue. Just be sure to have Plan B. For just shopping stay away from the tourists near Herald Sq/Macy's. Better shopping at Bloomingdale's. Or try Century 21 by Ground Zero for cheap shopping. The two musuems to hit are the Met and the Natural History. But take the Circle line--it's the best hing in NY.
