  1. New York is awsome, I lived there for three years, and its amazing. If you like Italian food try any of the ones in Little Italy (my favorite area, probably because I'm Italian) Another good Italian restaurant is called Carmine's and its located in the Theater district and is a little pricey, but the food is amazing. As for shopping I'd go with Times Square they have a lot of the stores you're probably used to seeing in your neighborhood. I'd stay away from 5th Ave, unless you're ready to shell out the big bucks, don't get me wrong I love that area, its just when the credit card bill comes it's not pretty. For bars and pubs (I never went to any of the clubs) try the Tribeca area its located in lower Manhattan down near the World Trade Center site. I'd recommend going to see that, its an amazing experience, very emotional I can't go near that spot when I am back there, I was there the day they came down and that was the worst day of my life. Other neat things to do is check out the Financial District, which is also in lower Manhattan it's always fun down there right about 3:30 in the afternoon! You see all the crazy people that work on the floors of the stock market on their smoke breaks. The Garment District is pretty cool you can find some good bargins there. If you can take the ferry to Staten Island, its amazing. One of my favorite areas is Chelsea thats were a lot of the cable news bulidings are, Madison Square Gardens is over that way. One thing to remember about if you take the Subway, its a little crazy, you'll meet some interesting people just don't go to Harlem or Brooklyn after 6pm if you can help it! Hopefully you won't get the subway flashers, they're funny. I hope you have fun.
