Try Tokio 7 at 64 East 7th Street at First Avenue - it's a designer consignment shop. It can get very crowded, but you can find things here you won't see anywhere else. If you like Denim, look at Famous Friends at 616 East 9th Street (between Avenues B and C) Walk through Soho - wonderful clothing stores. Have at least one meal in Chinatown - great for souvenirs and accessory shopping. Be sure to go into the Time Warner building - very expensive stores and restaurants. Even if you don't buy anything there, you can sit on a bench indoors and look out over Central Park. Buy a copy of the magazine, TimeOut New York - it will tell you about all the designer and boutique sales for the week. Be sure to check out Macy's and Lord & Taylor - they have great sales - especially on holidays. Even if they're not running a sale, check out the clearance racks, usually in the back of the department - clothes are marked down up to 80% off the original price.
2. i personally like to shop at bloomingdales. but when im in the mood for something different, id go down to elizabeth street, nolita area. many neat funky shops there.
