why do we ask cnn.........how muslim women feel???
Let’s not ask Barbra Walters how muslim women feel; let’s not ask tom brokaw, cnn, abc, fox, the London times or Australian times.let’s not ask nonMuslims how muslim women feel, how they live, what their challenges are etc. if you want to be fair.ask a muslim woman that knows her religion who has a relationship with the Creator who is stable in her society, understanding her responsibilities; ask her. The problem is: no one really wants to ask muslim women . We want to take pics of women in Afghanistan, Palestine and Pakistan and pics of women over here and we want to listen to what people say about female circumcision as if muslims have 30-40,000 muslim women all over the world being circumcised; some crazy steven Spielberg stuff..let me give you a statistic: most of every muslim women will be or is a college graduate, or is very intelligent & very much socially endowed and within her family structure you find women control the wealth more so than the men. Now what does that say to you?? Now where you find women among muslims being exploited and oppressed, that is because those muslims themselves aren’t representing the principles of religion and in every religion you got black sheep. But then you can’t tell me the 148,000 prostitututes that walk the streets in the U.K or the 76,000 prostitutes that walk the streets of Holland that have licenses to do so you can’t tell me that all these young naked little girls walking around Australia with no clothes on…you can’t tell me they represent liberation. You can’t tell me that the 2350 abortions murders that take place with these young women represents sophistication and liberation you can’t tell me that a naked woman sitting on a choclate bar ,a naked woman selling everything;toothpaste etc everything you can't tell me that doesn't represent exploitation.so lets put things in context . Lets talk about things correctly. lets be fair and objective. I can go on until dawn but for now just one more statistic, just one more; prostitution venereal disease, abortion & pedophilia & the horrendous # of children that are kidnapped and raped. That exist in the western world it is almost unheard of in the muslim world. So I think that the statistics speak for themselves plz ppl. stop turning to politics. We're talking about Islam and again as i've mentioned quote "Now where you find women among muslims being exploited and oppressed, that is because those muslims themselves aren’t representing the principles of religion and in every religion you got black sheep."

- Okay, so your question was......?
- Umm...nice question...oh, wait, there WAS NO QUESTION, was there?? Nope, only BS!
- islam teaches that you cannot say anything bad about islam, allah or Muhammad. How can we get the truth from women that are too oppressed to know truth and that cannot willingly say the truth? Your "question" is proof of that. You are fooling no one by saying crimes are almost unheard of in the Muslim world. You guys don't consider pedophilia a crime. Your prophet was a pedophile. Get real. Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays.
- The world is free to make their choices. God has given us free will to make our choices...we can choose to be either naughty or nice, so to speak! Muslim women, however, have NO CHOICE. Their religion or their men (as it is a religion made by men for men, after all) controls their movements, their dressing, their behaviour, their thoughts, their very lives. THIS IS THE CRUCIAL POINT! It's not true that there are 'no rapes, no abuse' in Muslim countries ...the religious leaders make raping of women as justice, for an example. Even a child who has been abused for stepping on the Qu'ran, "deserves to be abused," according to their warped mentality! In my country, Muslim women, as well as little girls, all covered from head to toe also get raped, and killed, by their own kind, mind you!
- I hope these intellegent muslim women have better English skills than you do. And I have no idea what your question actually is. As a woman (well, a 17yo woman at least) I think that muslim standards of how women dress are way too conservative. However I also think that a lot of the way that women are portrayed in the media is no where near conservative enough, and this sets the benchmark for society generally. I swim topless in my pool, and so I am not afraid to let trusted friends, male and female, see me. However when I am out in public, I don't want to wear tops or dresses that I have to worry about my b00bs falling out of, or skirts so short that anyone who sees me sit down knows what colour underwear I am wearing. But increasingly I feel like I have to or I don't conform. Well, sorry, but I don't want to conform to that standard. But I also don't want to wear a hijab either. I think we women need to turn our back on the marketing machine and wear what we want to wear, so we set the standard not them. B
- yeah u r right............... Westerners are rapers and murderers....... UNITED STATES OF AMERICA Findings by the U.S. Surgeon General C. Everette Koop revealed that domestic violence is the leading cause of injury to women between ages 15 to 44, more common than automobile accidents, muggings and rapes combined. Official estimates of domestic violence rely largely on FBI, police, and emergency room medical reports. Although many women also report domestic violence to friends, family, relatives, churches, synagogues, physicians, and nurses, these sources of information are not included in national crime surveys. In addition, most reports do not show the number of violent incidents experienced by individual battered women and their children. Hence, statistics do not accurately reflect the amount of violence experienced in intimate relationships and in the home. However, what the statistics do reveal about domestic violence is alarming. For example: * There are at least 4 million reported incidents of domestic violence against women every year. Almost 20 percent of these are aggravated assaults in the home. (Angela Brown, Senate Judiciary Committee Hearing, December 1990.) * In 1991, more then 90 women were murdered every week. Nine out of ten were murdered by men. (Senate Judiciary Committee Report, "Violence Against Women: A Week In the Life of America," October 1992.) * Weapons are used in 30 percent of domestic violence incidents. (P. Claus & M. Ranel, "Special Report: Family Violence," Bureau of Justice Statistics, undated) * 15 to 25 percent of pregnant women are battered. (Evan Stark & Anne Flitcraft, 1992.) * In 95 percent of all domestic violence assaults, crimes are committed by men against women. ("Report to the Nation on Crime and Justice, Bureau of Justice Statistics," 1983.) * 22 to 35 percent of women who visit emergency rooms are there for injuries related to on-going abuse. (Journal of American Medical Association, 1990.) * Medical expenses from domestic violence total at least $3 to $5 billion annually. Businesses forfeit another $100 million in lost wages, sick leave, absenteeism and non-productivity. ("Domestic Violence For Health Care Providers," 3rd Edition, Colorado Domestic Violence Coalition, 1991.) * Abusive husbands and lovers harass 74 percent of employed battered women at work, either in person or over the telephone (Caroline Wolf Harlow, "Female Victims of Crime" Bureau of Justice Statistics, 1991), causing 20 percent to lose their jobs (Schecter & Gray, "A Framework for Understanding and Empowering Battered Women," 1998.) * As violence against women becomes more severe and more frequent in the home, children experience a 300 percent increase in physical violence by the male batterer. (M. Strauss and R. Gelles, "Physical Violence in American Families," 1990.) * Approximately 1 out of every 25 elderly persons are victimized annually (Candace Heisler, "Journal of Elder Abuse and Neglect" 1991). Of those who experience domestic elder abuse, 37 percent are neglected and 26 percent are physically abused. Of those who perpetrate domestic elder abuse, 30 percent are the adult children of an abused person. ( National Aging Resource Center on Elder Abuse, 1990.) * In 1991, only 17 states kept data on reported domestic violence offenses. These reports were limited to murder, rape, robbery, and serious bodily injury and no other form of domestic violence. (Senate Judiciary Committee Report, October 1992.) * Injuries that battered women receive are at least as serious as injuries suffered in 90 percent of violent felony crimes, yet under state laws, they are almost always classified as misdemeanors. (Joan Zorza, "The Gender Bias Committee's Domestic Violence Study," 1989.) * In nearly 31 of the states, under many circumstances, it is legal for a husband to rape his wife (National Clearinghouse on marital and Date Rape, 1993). In one study, 37 percent of the women who had been physically battered by their husbands were also raped by the husbands. (Diane E. Russell, "Rape in Marriage," Revised ED., 1990.) * Women are 10 times more likely then men to be victims of violent crime in intimate relationships. (U.S. Dept. of Justice, "Violence Against Women," January 1994.) * Until recently, few states collected enough information to indicate how many crimes reported to the police were committed against women and how many were committed against men. Crimes reported as aggravated assault by husband against wife were not distinguished from crimes reported as aggravated assault by an unknown assailant. (Domestic Crimes in the U.S. Survey, Senate Judiciary Committee, 1991.) * Although more than one million women seek medical treatment each year for injuries caused by their husbands, ex-husbands, or boyfriends, doctors correctly identify the injuries as resulting from battering only 4 percent of the time. (E. Stark & A. Flitcraft, "Medical Therapy as Repression: The Case of the Battered Woman," 1982.) Source: "Research & Statistics On Domestic Violence," National Coalition Against Domestic Violence.
- OK, I read a news article about a woman who had a brother. The brother raped another man's daughter. The leaders of the people who the had the daughter who was raped got together & sent seven men to rape the sister of the man who raped the man's daughter. When they went to court, the judge sided with the group that raped the sister because she had to pay for what her brother did. She was put to death, because she was no longer a virgin even though she was given no choice. Many girls in countries that r mostly Islamic have there daughters given to men when they r only 12 or 13 they don't have a choice. Oprah went to Africa to help many of these girls, but she can do nothing to stop it from happening. Another time there was a man he found he wanted to become a Christian, his life is now worthless in his country, because there is a death sentence out on him. Now how many people will really live in the middle east & criticise their government? NONE that want to live. We live in a country that allows people to have a choice we have the mistaken consept that other countries have the same kind of democricy we live in. Yes it is not perfect, but I would rather live here & argue with people that have different beliefs than mine than live where I have no choice in my beliefs. I believe in the Messiah, I know He is the Son of God, but I couldn't say that in most middle eastern countries except Israel.
