Do you like big cities or small, quiet places? What is the main reason for your answer?

  1. Both, live in burbs, train to NYC, great. Reason, well, making up your mind!!!!
  2. Small quiet places. I don't like big cities at all. The noise, smell, and hustle and bustle make me nauseous. Give me a small quiet town any day. I like more natural surroundings.
  3. i love the big city; you meet all kinds of people, you dont really need alot in your fridge; i just pick something up at the market by my apartment; i take trains and cabs, the excitment, you get on tv alot (met like 4 celebrities), of course it has its dark sides and you have to get some advice before you decide to live there and i would like to live in a small place later on if life where you know your neighbors, voulenteer, and everyone's friendly but i havent even scratch the surface of this city and i'll live here a while longer...
  4. I like to live in big cities and visit small quiet places. In the city I'm exposed to new things and people all the time. There is more to do. Never a dull moment and plenty of free entertainment! More choices. More jobs, More places to eat, more places to shop. It's more environmentally friendly. Public transportation and things within walking distance. Lots of reasons! Space can be recylced in a city too. That way we can preserve the "small, quiet places" outside for everyone to travel to when they want a break from the city.
  5. When I lived with my parents, I lived in the suburbs of really big cities, New York and New Orleans. When I married my ex, I lived in the suburbs of Houston and LA. When I married my current hubby, we moved to San Diego to live on the water in a sailboat which was much nicer and quieter. We spent a year in Mexico, in the baja which was even smaller and quieter. When my dad died, we returned to San Diego to care for my mom. Once she died we discussed where WE wanted to live. Now we live in a very rural community outside Knoxville, and this is what we both like best. We can get into the city when we want it's benefits but we live in the quiet country beauty of the southern Appalachians and this is what we like best. What we lose included: higher crime rates in bigger cities higher accident rates on the roads the bigger the city, the more "dog-eat-dog" attitude you find the bigger the city, the more you have to step on others to get ahead. what we gain includes: a 360 degree view of God's created beauty around us songbirds, crickets & frogs to sing us to sleep at night a view of a valley & lake that makes our hearts sing a view of sunrise and sunset that makes us happy to be alive
  6. You can keep those noisey city's and i will stay out here in the middle of nowhere
  7. Big cities for sure. I cannot stand small towns. I live in Madison, Wisconsin (215,000) which is pretty big, but someday I want to move to New York.
