A holiday in Houston Texas. What is Houston Like? Where are the best places to go?
I am visiting Houston, in Texas next week, my parents have booked a last minute holiday, and i will be going to for around 5 weeks. The trouble is we will be staying with some relatives and i want to get out and about and enjoy my self, i am a good looking British guy who wants to have a good time whilst over there. I am not interested in boozing but i would still like to get out and meet some nice american girls. Any suggestions Ladies?

- Try the Montrose area, Brasil and Agora are good coffee shops/cafes and Domy is a good bookstore/art gallery (all are around westheimer st. and dunlavy st.). Boondock's and Etro are good bars in that area. Hollywood Cafe, Empire Cafe, Hugo's and Mo Mong are good restaurants in the area. Rich's is a good nightclub/bar downtown.
- You can still meet girls @ happy hour & not drink @ the strip bars.
- welll..the fun parts of town to me are Midtown and Montrose. You dont necessarily need a car for these areas. Just park and walk around. I agree with Jennifer...i love Brasils and Agoras. My friends and I hang out at either one all the time. we are aged 20-25. Also, get active and go to parks. I like Hermann Park because it so pretty. Plus the zoo,Museum of Natural Science,Fine Arts Museum, Japanese Gardens, golf club and lots of other places are located in and around the park. You dont have to drink to meet girls. My girls and I drink occasionally but mainly we just like to dance and meet new people. Clubs like Status,Rich's,Level,Drink Houston and Venue are good places to go and have a good time. Spotlight Karaoke is fun too! hope you have a great time in Houston!
- You didn't say how old you were. My idea of fun (I'm 47 and my wife is 33) is different from the 20-25 year old poster who thinks the most fun is in Montrose or "Midtown" areas. I'm a formerly single (until '06) guy. If you're anywhere over 30 and not a far left wing moonbat, you'll hate those areas, and would probably prefer the Richmond Strip area, although that is starting to get ghetto. If you could elaborate, maybe I can help. Five weeks, eh? As much as I love Houston, I wouldn't want to spend the time vacationing here. You might consider a few trips to other local Texas cities. Dallas is a four hour drive, San Antonio (lots of things to do there) is about three hourse, and Austin is about two-and-a-half.
- there are some nice clubs downtown and in the galleria area. there are also some clubs in the village near rice university. even if your not interested in boozing, we houston women are beautiful! welcome to our city
- here are 75 places in the houston area that locals and visitors alike enjoy -- from parks to history, to museums and a few other things in between http://www.associatedcontent.com/article/443090/the_big_beautiful_world_of_houston.html also here is information on the top 5 restaurants, but maybe just skip that part and check out the information for the wine spot in katy or the three locations of the tasting room http://associatedcontent.decenturl.com/top-places-for-romantic-dining (excellent wine tastings on sat) as a brit and not a boozer St Arnold Brewery may be just the place for you. they should have tapped the winter stout for tasting details: http://associatedcontent.decenturl.com/patron-saint-of-breweries this is a great time and so easy to meet people, bring a snack or lunch and roam around for a couple of hours. very casual and not like any other beer tasting i have been too. that should get you started no matter what you like. enjoy, houston is one of the best places to live or visit -- and i have been to lots of places
- Visit some of the spots in the Galleria area. It's a nice area and i think you would like it.
