best places to live

Where is the best place to live (in the US) for a teacher?

I am currently a teacher in Anne Arundel County, Maryland which provides phenomenal health insurance for my family. Currently, I am paying less than $100 for our plan which covers everything at a very low deductible/co-pay. Unfortunately, the housing market is extremely high here. We are thinking of moving but it seems like every county that has affordable housing has a lousy package for teachers. I understand the salary will be less but the price of health insurance is usually $400-$700 a month out of my pocket. My question is this: Are there any websites that offer a comprehensive look at multiple states, counties, or cities? Are there any lists of the best places to live for teachers/ Thanks

  1. Minneapolis
  2. Minneapolis. trust me its great!
  3. Try Louisiana they want teachers bad.
  4. I don't beleive there's a certain site that tell you what the healt benifets are for each school district, however I'd go look at greatschools.com and search the districts of the places you're looking to move, sometimes the teachers will comment about the school and it does provide you with information about the school district. Then you can search the area and see how much the houses are there... but as far as I know there is no site that will tell you how much teachers make and the benifits...
  5. i tried looking on google for you but could not find anything worth posting. if you have any ideas, then you should start your search at the city websites. i used to live in ND, and was always told by my college professors that the best place to teach was minnesota, so the first 2 answerers are probably correct. however, also look into boise, idaho. the economy is stable over there. ND economy is also growing and very stable. but it is cold there. good luck on your search and relocation!
  6. i know for a fact that the northeast has the highest paid teachers with the best benefits..keep googling key words like"highest paid teachers, etc" last time i did it i found that cali was highest followed by new york state
