best places to live

Thinking of taking a trip to Georgia (USA) to research a book. - Suggest places to go?

I've never been in the South, and my novel takes place in Georgia. I'm thinking of spending 3-4 days seeing things that will give me a good flavor of the culture, history, anything strange or interesting too, and I'd like to see some old plantation houses & stuff (It's a ghost story). Any suggestions??

  1. Savannah baby! lots of ghosts. norther ga can be a little spooky too
  2. Savannah is a great idea. But, if you're coming through Atlanta, you might want to visit some of the local 'historical' sites along the way...The Wren House, the home of Brer Rabbit...The Dump, where Margaret Mitchell lived... the Square in Marietta for a lot of great Southern homes... Kennesaw Mountain where the Battle of Atlanta took place, etc. And, make sure you take some tours of the Macon area for some great Southern Style homes.
  3. Check out Savannah, it's got a lot of the old old homes and stuff, and has a pretty quirky scene.
