  1. umm i would definately recommend nashville, tennessee! i LOVED it there.! my family went to visit a year ago just to get away and it was AWESOME!! there are tons of different things to see and they have lots of places to eat =] so yea i would definately say you should go there
  2. Rabun County, Georgia is your best bet. Our family has been every year since I was born and we still aren't bored with it. The mountains here are beautiful (especially in late Oct.) and access to the area is easy via US 441. Here are some of the places in Rabun County you should go to: Clayton is the biggest city, and it's where most people go to get stuff. There are lots of good restaurants and a neat downtown for shopping. You can find countless books that describe hiking opportunities and rafting on the Chatooga River. There is also Sky Valley, which is a really nice place to stay if you are interested in golf or just want to take in the view of the huge valley. It's a really pretty area. Dillard is a small town with a little bit of shopping and a few restaurants, and it's also the gateway to Sky Valley and Highlands via Highway 246. Mountain City is the gateway to Black Rock Mountain State Park. There is a breathtaking view from the top of the mountain, and several hiking trails. Tallulah Gorge has what I think is the best state park in GA. It is the first thing you will pass when entering Rabun on 441 from the south, and it is a definite must-see if you come through here. And if you do get bored in Rabun Co., Highlands, NC is a really cool little town that is about a 20 minute drive from Sky Valley. There is also a city called Franklin in NC about 20 miles north of Dillard with a good bit of shopping and dining, as well as a big greenway that runs through town. As I said before, if you are into hiking, there is more hiking in this area around Sky Valley/Clayton/Highlands than there probably is anywhere else in Georgia. Almost everything is off the beaten path, though, so get a few books to help you find some places to explore! Hope this helps!
