New York City. Best places to go?
I am going to NYC in Sept with my Husband and am just wondering some great places to go. I am staying at the Plaza as well and was wondering if anyone has been there and what they think. We would like to do a tour and see a play. We also have heard about the great food (such as the pizza) and would just like suggestions about some places to go. Thanks so much!

- i went there a couple years ago. it was the best! Joes Pizzaria was so good i saw the play the Beauty and the Beast, it was amazing. We also went to the wax museum, that was cool too.
- -At least one Broadway play--any one! They're all great! -Definitely walk around or take a horse-drawn carriage ride through Central Park since the Plaza Hotel is right at the edge of it -Bar 89 in SoHo. Check out their famous "see-through" bathrooms! -view from the top of the Empire State Building -Shop for great bargains at "New York's Best Kept Secret"--Century 21 Department Store in downtown Manhattan -Ground Zero to pay your respects -Bloomingdales, Saks Fifth Avenue, Lord & Taylor, Barney's, Macy's -Grand Central Station -Rockefeller Center (now they offer a view from the top. Fees apply) -Little Italy -Depending on when you'll be in NYC during September, grab a couple of zeppoles at The Feast of San Gennaro in Little Italy -Check out St. Mark's Place on the lower east side. Cute street packed full of tiny Japanese restaurants, tattoo parlors, S&M shops, homosexuals, etc. (Don't worry! It might sound "scary", but it's a very safe area full of New York charm.) -Tram to Roosevelt Island in east midtown -Dim Sum in Chinatown -Staten Island ferry. It's free and you get a wonderful view of the New York City skyline -Walk the Brooklyn Bridge -Guggenheim & MoMa -Museum of Natural History -Serendipity for their famous Frozen Hot Chocolate -Simply walking the streets at night and window-shop. It's very safe and you'll get a whole different feel for the city! -Haggle over the price of handbags, knock-off Rolex watches, sunglasses, etc. on Canal Street The list goes on and on, but I hope you find these suggestions helpful!

- What everyone said is right but you shouldn't limit yourself to manhattan only. Sure it's the most exciting borough but you can also check out stuff in Brookyln. They've got excellent food like in manhattan (and usually cheaper) and they've got a botanical garden and prospect park which is like central park's little brother. You should also check out Brooklyn's own downtown and shop at the Fulton Mall. Then lay around at the coney island beach and go to the astroland amusement park nearby. I don't live in queens or the bronx to know as much as i do for brooklyn but you should check those boroughs out too.
