Asie from the more major US cities (NYC, San Fran, LA, Miami etc etc) what are the best "less visited" cities?
I am thinking places like Kansas City, Dallas, Phoenix, Des Moines etc where people do not tend to visit on holiday. What are these like for a tourist (particularly one who is not so interested in amusement parks!). Recommendations please!

- well i like to go to colorado springs, colorado cuz i am big on snowboarding or even some places in utah have wicked palces to snowboard. Or go to New Orlands for alot of culture. its getting alot better there after the huricane. Or atlanta,ga. all depends on what you want to do. go to key west to hawaii. no amusement parks there more just relation and sun. or pheniox is kinda lame to me and dallas (they got rodeos) but its a lot of sun and everything else you could prob find in your own city. Or go to big bear cali. its a cute little moutain town you can play in the snow and stuff. or Santa Barbra Cali. its beautiful there.
- First, I wouldn't suggest Des Moines. There's really not that much to do there (i've been many times). In the Midwest, I would suggest Minneapolis, Minnesota or Madison/Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Both areas have some of the friendliest people around and have tons to do. They are also home to beautiful lakes, and all the great activities that go along with them. Colorado is also gorgeous. One of the best parts of the whole country. Another great place is Portland, Oregon. It's simply gorgeous, with a lot of opportunities for hiking, backpacking, beach excursions etc. In California, if you want to avoid San Francisco and LA I would suggest Santa Barbara. It's also beautiful and has a very laid back feel to it. If you want a lot of fun, I would suggest New Orleans. It is back on it's feet and has undeniable flair, great food, and a friendly "join the party" atmosphere. I hope this helps!
