best places to live

Where are the best places to stay, eat and sight see in New York? Are they very pricey?

I have always wanted to go to New York , so my husband is planning on taking me there for our 15th anniversary.I'm sure he is going to try to make this a very classy trip but, i don't want him to over spend our budget and i need your help to find all the best places and prices to go to when we get there.

  1. I think the best places to eat anywhere you go is wherever the locals go. so i would talk to the people that work in your hotel and some of the guests that live in the city and get some suggestion from them, talk to some cab drivers
  2. If you are looking for something that is lowkey but very stylish (posh) and romantic, there's a restaurant in the borough of Queens called "Water's Edge". It is a little pricey but it is beautiful and the food is top notch. You can sit outside (on a deck overlooking the entire skyline of Manhattan) or inside (they have a fireplace and grand piano). Expect maybe 200/300 total for both of you on a nice 3 course meal and good bottle of wine. Trust me its well worth it if you ask me. The best thing about it is they have a free boat you can take that crosses the East River and takes you over to Manhattan when you are finished your meal. If you are staying in Manhattan you can even organise to go to the Pier on 34th Street and the boat will pick you up to take you to the restaurant. I recommend only cause I enjoyed the place and usually took my girlfriend there. Best of luck to you.

  4. From what you have written, you don't want to stay, eat and see the "best places" in NYC because best places and budget are mutually exclusive in NYC. If you were to tell me your budget it would be easier or at least a range you would be willing to spend. For example in NYC hotels would fall like this: Cheap $150-300 a night Moderate $300-500 a night High $500-1,000 a night "Very Classy" $1,000+ a night. Does $1,000 a night fit into your budget?????
