Which cities in America have the best quality of life?

Where are the best cities to live in America? And in your opinion, what makes them good to live in? How do you measure quality of life?

3. I measure quality of life by my ability to look out my window to find a trickling stream surrounded by a beautiful forest. AND 2 minutes away I visit my bohemian city where arts are revered. It is city enough, without losing it's connection to nature. There are community gardens feeding some parts of the city and in every nook and cranny there are hippies. Portland, Maine.
