  1. what ethnicity are you? and what social class would you think you fall under? california is generally more expensive than many other states so i would say under thirty thousand is lower, 30-70 is middle, 70+ would be upper does it matter if you pick a place with mainly people of your ethnicity or any place with mix ethnicities is fine too?
  2. I agree with previous poster. California is really a microcosm of the USA. Rural & City, coastal, mountains and desert. Just depends... Here's a couple places San Francisco -- lots of diversity, very urban San Diego -- a fair amount of diversity, urban, beach culture San Luis Obispo -- less diverse, family oriented, somewhat urban
  3. Live as close to the coast as you can afford, and you can't go wrong. Northern California is generally nicer than Southern California.
  4. "LA" is such a big place, there are so many neighborhoods/cities where you can live. Of course, even within a city or neighborhood, there are safer sections and less-safe sections. In Los Angeles, some nice sections are West LA, Brentwood, Westwood, Marina Del Rey, Playa Del Rey, Los Feliz, Silverlake, Eagle Rock, Encino, Tarzana, Studio City, Toluca Lake, Granada Hills, Woodland Hills, Sherman Oaks, West Hills, Chatsworth. To the east: South Pasadena, parts of Pasadena, Altadena, Arcadia, Monrovia, Glendora, San Dimas, Laverne, Azusa, Rancho Cucamonga. Along the beach: Santa Monica, Marina Del Rey, Playa Del Rey, Redondo Beach, Manhattan Beach, Hermosa Beach, Torrance, Palos Verdes, Rancho PV. In Orange County aka "The OC": Seal Beach , Huntington Beach , Newport Beach , Corona Del Mar , Laguna Beach , Dana Point , Capistrano Beach , San Clemente , Brea, Yorba Linda, Orange, Tustin, Irvine, Laguna Hills, Rancho Santa Margarita, Lake Forest To the west: Agoura, Calabasas, Thousand Oaks, Westlake Village, Simi Valley, Moorpark. This is not an all-inclusive list, but it's a start.
  5. any cities around the oc which is in southern california. probably like fountain valley, huntington beach, newport beach, westminster, garden grove, cypress, costa mesa, orange, or irvine. these cites are close the the beach so it has really nice weather and great schools for kids too!
  6. What about.... Watts, Crenshaw, Ladera Heights, Linclon Heights, Boyle Heights, Wilmington, Cudahy, Maywood, South Gate, Huntington Park, Bell, Bell Gardens, Lynwood, Paramount and Compton? Hasta La Vista Babino!
  7. It all depends if you want to be in the city or away from the city. If you are looking at Southern California away from the city I would say Palm Springs or Apple Valley, they are really nice areas with reasonable rent alot cheaper than the city. If you love the city I would say LA or San Diego which has a higher cost of living but its worth to be next to the beach, but then again Palm Springs is only 2 hours from LA and only 2 hours from San Diego as well. Then there is also Orange county, Newport beach is nice as well. It all depends, you should take a trip and see how you like it, no one will know how you like it but you. Also Southern California is some desert, palm trees and cities, Northern California is more green trees and country side.
  8. South Orange County. They have some of the best schools in the state. Try Aliso Viejo, Laguna Niguel, Dana Point, San Juan Capistrano, Rancho Santa Margarita, San Clemente, or Mission Viejo.
