Where is the best place in the United States to live and raise a family?

My wife and I are thinking about starting a family soon and would like to know why a particular place would be good for raising a child.

  1. utah.. ha are you a certain religion??
  2. Naperville, Illinois!
  3. chicago
  4. NYC, everything is very convenient in new york city. The NYC subway connects New Yorkers to all parts of New York and you can find most things within walking distance.
  5. Pittsburgh because of the many museums and learning experiences you are bound to have.
  6. Florida is great it even has disney for the kids and when the kids get older there is universal also for you and your wife there are alot of good clubs.
  7. maybe Tennese. It is nice, country enviroment, and very low-key, down to earth living, I don't suggest New York City, as it can be,... well you know...
  8. Try findyourspot.com
  9. Des Moines, Big town with low crime rates, except on East Side.
  10. I'm here in Los Angeles, and this is a good question I've often wondered my ownself. In my opinion, I don't think that there's actually a good place to live in, because times have changed in a lot of way. You might think that a place like that actually exists, like everything else, there are social ills affecting us no matter what part of the region you live in. Nothing is off-limits, like before. I don't know of any websites that I can point out to you, to find the answers, other than the local news-that have covered this topic before on a number of occasions on what's the best and worst cities to live in. They take into consideration only the crime statistics, but they don't talk about the income level, cost of living in order to live in a particular area, housing, jobs, schools, what are your goals and what happens if the scenery changes thru out the years and it's not what you exactly had in mind? Either way, good luck, because as far as I'm concerned, the cost of living is quite high, no matter where you go.
  11. The best place would be here on Earth. Reduced to the US, somewhere between Seattle WA - Key West FL and San Diego CA - Portland, Maine
  12. Farm country. Indiana, Illinois, Wisconsin, Kansas, etc. Peaceful living and the cost of living isn't as high as it is in the bigger cities.
  13. Alaska - Juneau, Anchorage or Fairbanks. The great thing about Alaska is that there is a lot of opportunity for employment. Also, the schools have some great programs going on - your children will have opportunities to travel other parts of the US as well as other countries. The land is beautiful, the people are friendly, and there is a lot of rich culture there. Depending on how you feel about politics... it is a good place to be away from the major hubbub of government. Yup, it gets cold in the winter... but the summers are unbelieveable!!! And there is so much to see geographically. They have everything, seriously! Mountains, valleys, rivers, the Pacific Ocean, trees, wild flowers... the list goes on! It might seem expensive but wages reflect the economy so you shouldn't need to worry overmuch about that. Ok, I will admit, I do not live in Alaska and I never have. I live in the Yukon which is right next door (Canada). But every summer my friends and I visit different places in Alaska and are always greeted warmly. When Alaskans come here it is the same thing. Part of it is that we all live similar lifestyles, part of it is the fact that there is mixing with the first nation cultures across the border. But no matter what it is, the people are always great. And they never seem to have anything to complain about or anything nasty to say about their hometowns... it's lovely.
