Just curious, what US Cities have the best public transportation system in your opinion?
Aside from the obvious NYC and Washington DC According to their website, Nashville's also looks pretty good. How about other southern cities like Charlotte, Birmingham, Austin, etc..???

- Number one, hands down, would be NYC, but since you said aside from NYC and DC I would say Boston followed by Chicago.
- Regarding the part of your question about cities in the U.S. South: Most southern cities fully developed during the era when the automobile was dominant in the minds of the general public and urban and regional planners. Charlotte has an extensive bus network, and recently opened their first light rail line (with another line in the works, as well as plans for a trolley line and a commuter rail line). Birmingham's bus system only goes certain areas -- it is a very automobile dependent city. Atlanta has decent public transportation (MARTA) especially when you take into account their heavy rail MARTA transit system.
