Where are some of the best places to camp in California?

Public Comments

  1. Happy Camp, California also notably the birthplace of CFL all star Ricky Ray
  2. One of the best places in California is Big Sur. The were voted "Best Place to Play Hookie."
  3. Big Bear. It doesn't matter what time of year it is. You've got snow for skiing, fishing and boating, hiking, horseback riding and just plain kicking back. Lots of campgrounds or cabins to rent, lots of nightlife, shopping, Alpine Ski Lift for winter or summer and water slide open during summer. Can't beat it!

  5. Iam sorry I've never been there. But if will be there i will choose nice place with v. high trees
  6. I answered a question similar to this last year around September of October.hehehehe. I've camped all over the state and all of the greatest sites in my opinion have something a little different from one another. The whole Redding area is kick butt!!! You can drive 1 hour from Redding in any direction and be " out in the sticks" lots of fishing, hiking, ohv, boating, biking, hunting, swimming, etc. anything outdoors. From Castle Craigs in Dunsmuir to the North, to Burney Falls and Fall River Mills for kick but fishing in the east, to white water rafting in the Trinity river and trophy trout fishing to the west, and rafting the Sacramento River and stream side camping to the south. Beaver Creek Campground on the Kalamath River near Yreka is a free natl forest campground that is great and out on W299 near Burnt Ranch ( i cant remember the name at the moment) Of coures the yosemite area rocks in the spring (less people more water falling, toulome meadows or the valley) I now live in the Bay Area and hate it! I want to move back to Redding just so I can have my camping again
  7. Depends what you want to do but I absolutely love Bishop. There is a good deal to do and it is very beautiful country. There is also very good fishing plenty of hiking trails and don't forget Bodie, Shact's Bakery (good bread), Laws train museum. The Owens valley (Lone Pine area) has been in several movies form Tremors to the new Iron man and many old westerns. There is a lot to do there like seeing Mt. Whitney (the tallest mt. in the Continental U.S.), to fishing and backpacking. Yosemite can also be reached via Lee Vining (about an hour north of Bishop). Death Valley is also not to Far away along with the Bristle Cone Pines (some of the oldest trees in the world). Enjoy
