What are the best, but cheapest places to live, in Mid Lothian/East Lothian?

I currently live in Edinburgh but I am selling my flat. I want to move out of Edinburgh to one of these areas. There are so many places to choose from. Does anyone have any idea which is the better place to live in these areas?
