best places to live

How much money do I need to make to live in Orange County, Cali.?

I just returned from Anaheim where my wife was attending a conference. I loved it there. There were positives and negatives however I really consider that to be a place I could live. How much money would my wife and I need to make to live comfortably in the area? My wife has a masters degree in Human Organization Management, and I am about to graduate with an MBA with an Information Technology emphasis. I have experience in the video game industry, but currently work as a Technology Cordinator for a school system. What kind of money could we expect to make a year there?

  1. It's pretty expensive in Orange County. You'll be lucky if you can get a 2bd. apt for $1300 a month. Very lucky.
  2. 1600 to several thousand just for rent i live in anaheim hills the hilly suburban area... the area near the convention center isnt great... but orange county is a very nice place to live... there are plenty of jobs in that field... just start looking around... good luck...
  3. Combined, you two would need to make about 150k a year to be comfortable.
  4. Keep visiting. Start taking vacations. Before I left California, I imagined I could live in Brea, a beautiful city near Anaheim Hills. My sister lives near Anaheim Hills in a home she bought around 30 years ago. Her neighborhood is very nice, and her home has appreciated soooo much in value. Today, she couldn't afford to buy it. Many of the cities in Orange County are nice. Yorba Linda, Brea, Orange, Irvine, Mission Viejo, Villa Park, Rancho Santa Margarita, Trabuco Canyon, Huntington Beach and all the beach areas... What I think is truly important is the length of your commute. When I lived there, I was very lucky because my jobs were pretty close to home, but if you have to get stuck on the 5, 22 or 405 freeways, forget it! You couldn't pay me enough, but that's just me. As a result, I will probably never want to live in Orange County again (I'm currently in another western state). With your degrees, I think that you and your wife will have a very good life there. There are still many good jobs in Orange County. I never struggled long to find a job while I lived there and I'm not a college grad.
  5. your wife and you have to make more than 200k anually to live there comfortably.
