Best places to live & raise children in Everett, Wa Area...?
We currently live in New York (suburbs). We will be moving to Everett this summer (my husban's job) but was wondering if someone could recommend other NICE places to live (but w/convenient commute to Everett...) w/ great schools (pre-k - 8th grade). We are in our early 30's. Thank you everyone for your help!

- seattle is a beautiful city
- I've lived in Everett for over ten years (I recently moved to Kent) and we also own a house in Everett... I don't know alot of good areas outside of Everett, however I do know the best area IN Everett. The best place to live in Everett is the Claremont area. (This area is by Everett Golf and Country Club right by Rucker Ave which is the same as Highway 99). The houses are nice mostly made of brick, the area is very safe and it's near almost everything. The only downside is the houeses hold their prices quite well so finding a house as cheap as the market can be difficult. Good luck, and welcome to Seattle!
- I live in the Port Gardner neighbourhood of Everett - Rucker Hill area - and it's quite nice. My house has a 180 degree view of the Cascades, I can walk to beautiful Forest Park - a block away - and downtown is just over a mile. Downtown we have the Comcast Arena where the Everett Silvertips hockey team plays and just up the road from there where the Aquasox baseball team plays. There's also a children's museum downtown. I don't have kids but Everett definitely seems to be a very family-friendly town. Just like any town Everett has nice areas and not so nice areas. But it's also a town in transition and things are getting better all the time. Everett is separated into neighbourhoods - just like Seattle is - and each neighbourhood has its own community associations and monthly meetings. There's a great sense of "home town" here and lots of history with most of the homes being beautiful old Craftsmans from the 1920's. I think you should spare yourself the awful I-5 commute and look around Everett for a home. Do it quickly, though, as home prices are on the rice. King County - where Seattle is located - you really can't find a home under $400K unless it's a double-wide!
- Your price range? Rent? Buy? Apartment? Condo? Town Home? House? I've lived in the Everett area for 21 years and I would recommend the following cities: (SOME parts of) Everett Lake Stevens MILL CREEK (very nice) MUKILTEO (very nice) EDMONDS (very nice) (SOME parts of) Lynnwood Snohomish Bothell I could tell you the parts that are good and bad but that would be kind of hard to know where those parts are if you're not already here. If your renting, you should check out: www.forrent.com www.rent.com and then check out their ratings and reviews on: www.apartmentratings.com Everett does NOT have good schools unless you live where it switches to the Mukilteo school district. Mukilteo has GREAT schools, and same with Bothell area or Mill Creek. High ends homes and luxury places to live are Mill Creek, Edmonds, Bothell, and Mukilteo. My four favorite areas. Everett, Lynnwood, Snohomish are OKAY but the crime and drug rate are higher in those areas. Lake Stevens is pretty much the same (I went to High School there) but they have a lot of NICE homes and decent schools. Nothing like Mukilteo though! :) Google any of those cities and pull up their city website. It might give you some insight. Good luck, email me if you have any further questions and welcome to Washington! You'll love it it! ♥ Ashley
- There are still nice neighborhoods in Everett. The problem is that the Naval base has pushed the slum-neighborhoods closer to the nice ones. How much money do you plan to spend on a house? As for an easy commute...once you get outside of Everett.....in any direction.......traffic is horrible. I assume your husband is going to work at Boeing so Mukilteo is nice but spendy. I grew up in Mukilteo and went to school in Everett but that was 15 years ago and things have changed dramatically. If you don't mind a 30 minute commute I would suggest going north of Everett. Real estate is more affordable to the north. Concentrate on Arlington, Stanwood, even Camano Island wouldn't be too bad. If you mapquest thes cities just remember that your travel time will be 2 to 3 times what mapquest says due to traffic.
- Everett has several nice neighborhoods. They are spread out throught the city. Your best bet would be to stay away from Broadway and Casino road! Good luck in your home searh.
