Best cities to live in Miami-Dade county (near Coral Gables)?
Hi everyone! I'm starting UM in the Fall and am thinking about moving to Miami to avoid the long commute (I live in Broward county). My question is, what are the best cities nearby, other than Coral Gables, that are good to live in? Price range and any other details or tips are greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

- Pinecrest is nice. It's pretty close to campus. There are some apartments near a Metrorail stop. Go south on US1 from UM and turn left on Ludlam (67th Ave.), turn right on 88th st. There are apartments on both sides of the road. There is a Metrorail stop within walking distance. The Metrorail stops at UM.
- Kendall connects directly to U of M by Metro-Rail and has (literally) thousands of apartments & condos -- at all price ranges -- available for rental. Thanks to the real estate price collapse it is by far the best deal going & perfect for a U of M student. In fact you can have a look at the neighborhood: Go to Google street view, select Miami Breach & drag the map over to Miami & then South along US-1 to the intersection of US-1 and North Kendall Drive (SW 88th St.) and the blue lined streets around it. Click on the yellow man for a view & use the arrows for a 360 deg. look around. You'll see the metro-Rail station, Dadeland shopping center & many high & low-rise apartment complexes.
- Kendall is a great area to live in, especially because it is an upcoming community too.
- South Miami, you're right next to Coral Gables & UM.
- i seriously recommend living in the dorm your first year if you aren't familiar with the area, because traffic SUCKS in miami, and there are a lot of bad areas. if you have loads of money, maybe you can rent a condo in brickell or downtown gables. you especially do not wanna be driving from kendall though, its ridiculousl, and you can't rely on the metro at all.
