- Try Oceanside... not far from LA or SD and it is beautiful.... also cheaper then living in LA or SD...
- Between LA and San Diego is Orange County. Very expensive. Try Riverside County. Much less expensive, and only an hour from the beach and all that. Also closer to the mountains for skiing and winter fun.
- Try Riverside or San Bernardino Counties. The cost of living and rent are a lot lower than LA and OC. Not too far from San Diego and Arizona. North of LA is the Antelope Valley (LA County) and Kern County. Very inexpensive.
- Newport Beach
- In Riverside County, try Temecula or Menifee. They're growing.
- I live basically right in between LA and San Diego. I don't recommend Oceanside, it's not that nice. I live in Aliso Viejo, which is south Orange County. Anything in south OC is really nice and not that expensive. I'm about an hour from each place. There are beaches everywhere, I'm 15 min from Laguna Beach, Dana Point, Newport Coast, etc. There's a lot to do in south OC. So I'd recommend anywhere in south Orange County (as I already stated, haha) Hope that helped.
- You may be asking for too much. You want inexpensive AND close to amusements, that may be tricky. Realize, in general, the closer you live to the beach the more you will pay. Realize the further you live from the cities, the worse the commute. I would suggest looking into south Ventura county.
- San Diegos not bad I live there. Check out the rent rates at www.craigslist.com We have the san diego zoo, sea world, the del mar fair grounds (horse races, and different expos), old town, lego land, sea port village, SD's Comic con, tons o beaches and acouple of lakes you can visit or camp at,soak city, during the summer they have Balboa park with all the museums and holiday family events, san diegos street scene, the del mar county fair, small family fairs (like adams fair, etc) and markets and it's like a 2 hr family road trip to disneyland, wild animal park, knotts berry farm, univeral studios & hollywood. Those are just the ones off the top of my head to. And traffic hasn't gotten as bad as LA, yet.
- I live in El Segundo. It is like Mayberry.... L.A.'s Best Kept Secret. Everyone knows everyone. A small town mentality in a big area. It is perfect!
