What are some good places to go camping in Connecticut?

My boyfriend and I want to go REAL camping, I think it's called "backpack camping" or "primitive camping." Basically it's when you don't have an assigned, reserved campground, you just go for a hike and stop somewhere to camp along the way. thanks!

1. I'm not sure if you will be able to find this type of camping in Conn. as there is not to much undisturbed land left there, and you would have many more options if you headed another 4 or 5 hours north into New Hampshire and Maine where there are thousands and thousands of acres of untouched mountain wilderness, It's well worth the trip if you love to "Deep Woods" camp. I like to support local land owners when I camp around so I will usually refer to this site for new info about each area..., Each state usually has their own owners association..............................................
2. jump on the appalacian trail. or try the bear mountain area in the north west corner. be careful if its your first time
