Will the USA make Youssif and his family return to Iraq?

Have you heard the story of the child that was burned and now sent to the USA for surgery? http://www.cnn.com/2007/US/09/16/youssif.spiderman/index.html The deal was that an organization would pay for the child and his family to come to the USA to get treatment and when complete they would return to Iraq. But after going to Disney land, Universal, living the American life...how are they going to return to Iraq??? I don't think they will leave. They should be allowed to stay, but I don't think they will be allowed. Hopefully something happens and they are able to stay, it would be horrible to see such a nice place and then have to return to such crap.... What do you think?

  1. I have been keeping an eye on this story too. It really breaks my heart to think that someone could do something so horrific to a child. I was wondering what will happen to them after the treatment as well. My thoughts are that I hope they will find a way to stay here and make a new life and home but that they will have to go through all the right legal routes to get there...just like everyone else should. I think there might be a way for them to stay if they wanted seeing as how they might be in danger upon returning to Iraq. Stories like this though make me proud to be an american, to know we have the ability to help others and the outpouring of support this family has received. It also puts a face on what the Iraqi people have to deal with and the pain and suffering they endure. I hope there will be a day in the near future when their children can grow up without the constant threat of violence. So...I really hope this family can find a way to stay here and that the doctors can help Youssif to make him whole again.
  2. once his face is fixed, yes
