Where is the best place to live in California?

I'm from London and i'm planning a move to California. Not sure if i'm going for a house or apartment yet but what i do know is i want warm weather and lots of outdoor activity - mountain biking, surfing, windsurfing etc. As i'm from a big city i don't want to live in the countryside but it'd be nice if the country were a short drive away. Money isn't too big an issue either. Any suggestions???

2. live right by the beach. then you'll go surfing everyyyyday :D except.. it costs money.. but since money's no issue then go fot it! not the san diego one though.. the shark incident kinda scared me... but you should go to LAKE TAHOE too. its so beautiful. its super blue and so .. amazinggggg. you can ride boats and fish and go up in the mountains. i love it there :)
3. San D baby! thats where i wanna move! What a place. So beautiful and so much to do. You could live there you whole life and never do everything@ plus you got Sea World right there lol
4. Rancho Cucamonga- Its about 40 mins from snowboarding, about 30 mins from the beach, 40 mins from LA...and its a really nice town too.
5. I really like Monterey, Ca very scenic and great golfing!!
