Best cities to live in Texas?

My family is thinking about relocating to Texas from Michigan. Which city (or cities) are the best to live? Also, what are the best suburbs surrounding the city (or cities) that you list? We want to live in an area that has good schools, that is safe, that has nice homes, that has diversity, and that has things to do (or at least nearby). Thanks for your help.

1. I am from Michigan and actually moved to Texas for work. And then moved back to Michigan because I really did not care for Texas. If you're used to the Michigan weather, the breeze, the nice warmth...don't go to Houston. It's humid beyond belief and it's like a giant concrete shelter for Katrina victims. Central Texas is nice, I really like the Fort Worth area. The further south you go, the grosser the weather gets.
2. Texas and Michigan are like two different countries...that is gong to be quite an adjustment! But you might love it, who knows? Austin and Dallas are nice.
