What are the best/safest CA cities to be a sheriff or police officer in?
My 27 year old husband (ex-Naval Officer) is interested in being a police officer or sheriff in the San Diego/Orange County/ San Bernardino areas. Can anyone tell me which of these would be the safest counties/cities to work in? Any other advice on being a police officer would be helpful. Thank you!

- Irvine. Without a doubt. Safest city ( in the country ) last year Over Pop 100,000. But anywhere in South Orange county is extremely safe & quiet. Lake Forest. Laguna, Rancho Santa margarita, Dana Point, Etc etc etc. He's more likely to be hired ( quickly ) in LA or SB counties, though, I'd guess. There are " Intro to Criminal Justice" classes he can take which will give him a good idea of what it's all about, & make him more eligable for hire-on. Search 'Orange County Sheriff Recruitment' on yahoo or google for a # to call.
- Im originally from Riverside, and can only hope he is in law enforcement to make our lives better. That being said, please try Riverside P.D, They are in dire need of good cops. They lost sight of there duties to greed and personal gain.Well , not all of them ,but a problem no doubt. They murdered my friend some time ago. They lost the civil suit, but no money will fix what they did. Please know i have much respect for law enforcement. Just trying to give insight .I left there runnin. LOL.be safe hope i helped
- Irvine and Tustin...stay away from Anaheim and Santa Ana
- live on the border of Riverside/ San Bernardino and agree we need more good law enforcement, but you said SAFE place. Although every county has good/bad areas, I would not pick this area if I were in law enforcement and wanted to be safe. He is better off choosing Orange county - Irvine area. Would he consider L.A. County? I was born and raised in Glendora, Ca. - which is about 20 minutes away from San Bernardino (10 frwy -west) nice area - low crime, friendly police department. I would describe as modern "Mayberry".
