best places to live

Why was Islington in the top 10 worst places to live on C4 last night?

I missed the show, but someone told me that my borough featured. I live in Barnsbury, which is kind of between Angel and Highbury, and I think it is great- really pretty and very safe. But if anyone saw it, could you tell me on what grounds they determined it to be one of the worst? Just wondering now if I'm being ripped off, cuz house prices in my neighbourhood are extorionate to say the least, lol.

  1. I wouldnt worry about it, at least you dont live in Hackney, now that is a dump!
  2. They measured a lot of factors to get their top ten. Pollution, crime, life exectancy, pollution, exam results, delivery of local authority services. Apparently, Islington Ranks second worst after Nottingham for percentage of population likely to be a victim of crime. Only 44.1% of 15 year olds achieve five or more GCSE results between A* to C*. Islington is in the bottom 10% for education and economic activity. Life expectancy here is lower than average, with men living on average 73.9 years and women 79.3 years. All 16 of Islington’s wards are amongst the most deprived in England. Islington has high alcohol related hospital stays and many people in drug misuse treatment services. I live in Hackney and I love it, everywhere in Inner London's the same, nice bits next to crap bits.
  3. i only watched the last 5 minutes or so but apparently Winchester is the best place to live. if you want to find out about the best and worst places use the link below
  4. Estate agents say it is all "up and coming". It isn't. Like Docklands, it's a dump. You are only ever five minutes away from a traffic jam. Too many people. Too many restrictions. It smells. You pay a fortune for a house and cannot even park your car outside. What's that all about? Do yourself a favour. Move.
  5. That program was based on really random stuff and was clearly quite off the mark as islington is a very desirable borough to live in, and as for everybody badmouthing hackney i'd rather live there or newham than some of the boring places they showed on that tv show! london is amazing and at least it has character!
  6. didn't see the show If Islington's that bad then why did tony and cherie live there I live just down the road (finsbury) not bad area, nice georgian houses (albeit mostly renovated) I was horified to find out that they'd knocked down the Listed school building (dame allice owen or something like that) on the top end of goswell road and replaced it with a glastly looking uni. building The researchers at C4 are talking out of the thing that they sit on
