best places to live

Where is the best place to live in the United States for vegetarians?

I am vegetarian and am looking for a place that has a lot of veg friendly menus and options, also with access to health food stores

  1. I would definitely say Portland, New York, San Francisco, and Chicago are the best places...in that order. For smaller cities, check out Berkeley, CA...Asheville, NC...Santa Cruz, CA...Cambridge, MA Luck to you
  2. 1. West coast 2. Northeast Of course, I'd hope that wasn't the only factor shaping your decision on where to settle down :)
  3. No preference whatsoever, but New York and San Francisco have a lot of vegetarian and health food options.
  4. Berkeley
  5. The best place to live is where you will be happiest. A vegetarian diet can be happily sustained with ease anywhere in the USA...that is a privilege! (I should know, as I live in the rural Southeast where everyone "seasons" their veggies with pig parts!). Peace...
  6. Any major city on the West coast (Seattle, Portland, the Bay Area, L.A... dunno much about San Diego, but it's got to be similar) is a good place. Larger cities, in general, will have more variety to offer you. I live in Seattle and we have lots and lots of vegetarian and vegan restaurants, small health food stores, ethnic markets, Trader Joe's and Whole Foods, a vegan grocery and even a vegan donut shop. I haven't come across anything that I haven't been able to source here. Portland even has a vegan mini mall, with a grocery, a clothing shop, a bakery and a vegan tattoo parlor, not to mention tons of veg*n restaurants.
  7. its definitely not Las Vegas. lol I like Santa Monica, California and New York. But I'm not well traveled. Not in the US: Vancouver! :)
  8. Just about anywhere if you are serious about your eating. In the mid west we have gardens and lots of fresh produce. They are use to eating beans and potatoes, corn bread and biscuits and gravy, now with soy milk. Ft Smith Arkansas has a good health food store. McAlester OK has a health food store. Most of the markets now have soy milk and soy cheese and a lot of vegetarian products like morningstar farms, boca burgers and just a lot of meatless products you never seen before. And this is Oklahoma, so I just imagine other places has it to. Because lets face it most meat comes from this area. We are surrounded by hog barns, chicken houses, and cattle ranches. The cows actually have it the best. They are free range. but get something from the hog barn or chicken house?? NO! But there is this lady that lets her chickens run free and they have a good life. She sells eggs and that is where we get eggs. People now are starting to say, I want to see the cow! They run free out on the range and a couple of people buy the cow and have him cut and wrapped. split down the middle they purchase a half a cow. Which fills a freezer and you know it is healthy and know the butcher so you know you got the one you purchased. But buying in the store?
  9. Portland.
  10. well most states in the us have what you are asking but i think the best place would be san francisco
