best places to live

Why do people say that Arizona is the best place for people to live who have allergies?

That is- Are people with Asthma and/or allergies able to breathe easier there? If so why?

Public Comments

  1. drier air, less pollen
  2. It's very dry - fewer plant allergies bother people because there is less pollen in the air. It also feels easier to breathe air that is not very humid.
  3. the lack of plant life means less pollen. the dry air is supposed to be better too.
  4. It used to be because of the pure desert air & the lack of vegetation that caused so many allergies. People have ruined all that by bringing in water & their plants from other places. Also by pollution with their huge traffic problems, especially in the Phoenix area. The elderly "snowbirds" who go there, end up being just as sick with their emphysema, bronchitis & other respiratory diseases.
  5. i don't think it is true because I have severe allergies and my grandparents live in Arizona and I still have to take my medicine
  6. Probably because alot of the causes of outdoor allergies (pollen, ragweed, etc.) aren't as prevalent there. Most of arizona consists of an arid, dry climate, with little of the vegetation that produces allergens.
  7. It is dry and there is not that much pollen here . My cousin(he has Asthma and allergies)and I live in Arizona
  8. The dry hot air.
  9. Arizona used to be a good place for people with allergies to plants, until the people who moved there planted the plants which gave them allergies. Now it's more or less like everywhere else, full of nasty pollen. It was good in the 1920's or so.
  10. The pollen count is next to nil. The state government places the highest restrictions on factory emmisions.
  11. My allergists said no-people move to Arizona to get away from grass & pollens but planted them as soon as they got there! He also told me if you are allergenic, 6 months after you move you will be allergic to everything there, anyway!
  12. It used to be true because they had fewer plants that produced pollen. Now because of people moving plants and irrigation it is not as good as it used to be. They have more lawns and plants to cause allergy problems in Arizona now.
