What monthly price it will take to live in big cities of USA like New york?

I am leaving my country india and i want to take a good shelter in new york. So I want to know what is the monthly price of living in the house of this area.

1. 2 thousand dollars for a bad house. Not including water, air, heat, trash, groceries, transportation, toll roads, eatting out, taxes. Move to a smaller large town..NY is not the nicest place... unless your just visiting. I would pick Dallas, Austin, Wichita, San Jose, Little Rock, areas like that.
2. depends on the area, if you are single then you may find a studio apt for around 1,000 a month to rent an apt (need 3-4 months as deposit) 76 public transporation a month 400-600 in food depending on your habits then theres extras like 80 cell phone 100 light & gas to name a few expenses! there are other options if you dont mind sharing a room, on craiglist website you can find affordable furnished rooms for rent between 150-200 a week which some include internet, phone,light & gas. you will just share kitchen and bathroom.
