What are some careers in big cities such as Chicago or New York City?
I was wondering if I could get a list of careers that are needed in big cities. After college I would love to live in a city, so I would like some idea on careers that are directed mainly to the city, and not so much everywhere? Thanks!

- Cami, this is a really broad question. Why don't you go to monster.com or another job website and search for NYC or Chicago?
- I live in Chicago and I can tell you that there are a lot of legal jobs. Of course it doesn't hurt that I'm a paralegal (legal assistant). There's also a lot of sales and business positions available too. Robert Half Staffing has tons of job postings in Chicago, some of them even offer salary ranges. Also check out careerbuilder.com. In big cities like Chicago or NY the sky is the limit. Of course there are busier hiring times too. Usually early spring is the busiest. I was once told that people wait until after the holidays to switch jobs. It makes sense b/c of the holidays and such. Keep checking the job search websites and you're bound to find something in your field. Good luck!!
- There is a wonderful business publication here in Chicago and it's available on line: www.chicagobusiness.com. You will find an area in that website that lists top Chicago employers/ best companies to work for. There are many industries around here, but through that site you can narrow down your possibilities. Believe me, you will not be disappointed. I'm sorry I can't help you with New York...
