best places to live

Where are the best places to live in Texas?

Hi we are moving to Texas from Portland, OR and have been looking around the Houston area! But since I know very little about Texas (just the research I have been doing on the internet!) I was hoping someone can give me an idea of where the best city to live would be! Low crime is a huge plus! And I don't mind living 20 minutes away from a big city! Thanks Michele

  1. Nowhere.
  2. Austin
  3. I've heard that Denton and Mansfield in the Dallas area are both thriving communities with good schools and low crime rate.
  4. Katy Texas is a great place to raise a family. There's plenty of School's out there, its right on the city limits of Houston, so lower taxes, but still convient to the city. That's where I was born and raised, and I love to go back and visit all the time. If you would like to learn more about schools around there. Check out www.katyisd.com and www.katytexas.com
  5. Rosenburg, Baytown, Tomball, Prairie View, Brookshire, or Highlands.
  6. Hi Michele,, glad you can take 20 minutes to get to work in the Houston area,, you can add about 40 or more to it depending on where you want to live and where you have to go in that city.... If you have to go to Houston,, i suggest the Humble,, Conroe,,Woodlands area of the North part.. if you want to live South,,,, try Katy... i have co workers that live in all of them... and they are happy.... I personally like San Antonio,, to me it is the prettiest city, but they have high crime also.. and another favorite is Austin... one of the best universities,, the best music,,and all the people in Texas are pretty friendly.....the native Texans are anyway,, (can't you tell) lol..... hope this helps some,,,, good luck.....
  7. nowhere live in colorado
  8. Anywhere close to but not in the cities. We live in a small community that is 17 miles from the city and work in the city. Funny thing is that because of access by the highway I can get to work faster than most of the people that live there but have to stop at 15 stop lights, etc. before they get to the highway. Maybe its just me but I love the peace and security of living in a small town with an exceptional school district while having access to a larger city for work, shopping, entertainment, etc.
  9. Austin or San Marcos
  10. I heard Sugarland is one of the best (top 10) in the nation right now to live.
